I work for a company quite heavily involved with the csma and until recently moving departments only ever had contact with stuck up, demanding customers who irritated the hell out of me! csma to me was a rude beep in the ear that meant complaints, problems and who cares what the association was! The csma however, after close study of magazines and such is actually a really good association to be a member of (even if you may not want to admitt it!)In joining the benefits are huge and well worth the initial cost. To join the csma you have to initially be a member of the civil service and pay £12 to join for a year. This fee you get back almost instantly as each year you receive 11 magazines free of charge (thus covering the fee!) Inside these little gems you receive bargains galore. Okay some of them are incredibly boring such as breakdown cover, cheap insurance, even bits for your car - but once you step away from the car stuff you also get other brilliant deals on holidays, weekend breaks, christmas stuff and loads of other items that are really useful Some of the discounts are pretty appaling (e.g. 5% off) but others make it really beneficial. Brittania rescue offer a huge saving on membership, the csma own their own hotel and country house which you can stay in for around £30 a night including breakfast - even cheaper at certain times of year!
All in all this is an association which is not the most exciting.... You won't get fab parties and tremendous gifts but if your after cheap motor insurance, free MOT'S and the odd cheap weekend break or holiday this is a good one. In the course of a year you'll make your money back and even though you may have to hide from your friends that you are a member its a useful membership card to have in your wallet!
p.s. you know you've taken your membership to far when you start attending rallys and shout tally-ho! At this point I would recommend taking a step back!!!!!! Don't go to far!!
Advantages: might get a good discount on a car purchase Disadvantages: no longer the best for travel and insurance deals
The CSMA used to be synonymous with motor sport, looking after members interests in matters such as road safety, breakdowns, discounts for travel, and good financial deals in association with Frizzells. I was a member for very many years but became dissolutioned with its magazine's attitude to road safety, it seeming to prefer trivia rather than more serious issues. I still remained a member in the belief that it was financially beneficial for me ... ...that he had left the CSMA a few years ago as he could obtain cheaper car insurance elsewhere. I was reluctant to accept this, but on car insurance renewal a couple of month ago decided to put it to the test. I subsequently saved £50 on both insurance and breakdown by going elsewhere, and furthermore saved £200 on house insurance renewal a month later .
Bye bye CSMA.. ...

Review of CSMA - Civil Service Motoring Association
Advantages: cheap deals on insurance, holidays, travel, and other motoring thingd Disadvantages: it's associated with older civil servants..but it isn't always true!!!
I joined CSMA on the recommendation of a colleague purely becasue of the Whitemead Holiday park in the Forest of Dean..no other reason...it was a good way to get a cheap forest based activity holiday with the family and it was a lot cheaper than centreparcs!!!
However, when I got the monthly magazine there was alot more to it than that. There are motor reviews of cars and as I'm interested in new cars, I have been keeping an eye on this feature. ... ...available through the regional clubs, CSMA motorsport news, and a section on home, family and leisure. The CSMA - or to give it its proper title, of the Civil Service Motoring Association - was originallyl set up to prpovide a breakdown service for those in the civil service. And for years it did just that, but then opened it up to close family relations (spouse; child; parent). And somewhere along the way, something else happened as well. They also began to work in partnership with various companies, in order to provide discounts for those customers ... ...operators taking in tour guides; holiday parks, and the like. The majority of these are shown in their monthly members magazine, and some more are shown on their website. 'Extra' offers are also included in the magazine, by the way of insert. In order to benefit from these special offers, there is usually a code for which you must give when you book with that particular operator. In order to join the CSMA, it will cost you the grand sum of £52 which ...

Advantages: Great service, prompt response, good value Disadvantages: found none in nearly 20 years
transported to a local motorcycle dealer for repairs to be done. But the agent said he could help so took me and the bike back to his depot where his wife made me a cup of tea while he got his tool box out and fixed it for nothing and wouldnt even accept a few quid for a pint
Britannia rescue is owned by the CSMA which is the CivilServiceMotoringAssociation and they have offered their services to the general public since 1984 and now have over 400,000 members.
They dont have their own vehicles but use local agents and have over 550 of them up and down the country and cover the whole of the uk and Republic of Ireland.
I have also been a member of the rac in the past whose service in my experience leaves a lot to be desired.
So you must think that for the superior service and lower call out times you will be paying a premium but you ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Britannia Rescue
Advantages: Very efficient; brilliant customer care; reasonable prices Disadvantages: None
Britannia Rescue may be one of the least well known of the breakdown organisations, and they obviously have much smaller marketing budgets than the AA or RAC, but what they lack for in size they make up for in quality.
~ THE COMPANY ~
Britannia Rescue is owned by the CivilServiceMotoringAssociation (CSMA) which is a private, non profit making leisure and motoring organisation. (Membership of the CSMA is limited to those who currently work or have worked in the past for the CivilService or an organisation with its' roots in the CivilService).
~ CSMA DISCOUNTS ~
You do not need to be a CSMA member to join Britannia but as you will see from the price information below CSMA members do receive significant discounts. If you are thinking about joining Britannia my advice is to check first to see whether you are eligible to ...
