Good case but poor customer service
Review of Supermicro SC760 A by
andycharger
Advantages: Great case, lots of space, room for expansion
Disadvantages: customer service, sharp edges.
Supermicro are not someone you are going to come across at pc world. In fact, unless you are into building your hardware, its unlikely you have heard of them. While their product is faultless in reliability and quality, i would highly recommend going elsewhere for the average "joe bloggs" pc tinker person. We will get onto that later. firstly, lets review this case. With the advent of our new bespoke software system being built, i need to put together ... ...the professional consistency present in our other hardware. So, rather than buy something off the shelf like a dell or compaq, im building them in house. before you go to the trouble of finding all of the bits that go into the server, lets get a nice big case with plenty of space, easily maintainable and accessible to put our product inside. I therefore turn to supermicro. a big name in supplying the trade with diy parts to build servers. Here we ...

How a case should be
Review of Supermicro SC742 I-450 by
mike_kular
Advantages: price and PSU
Disadvantages: weight and plasticy features
Super Micro is a company that specialises almost entirely in workstation/server products, from cases and motherboards, all the way up to fully configured systems; therefore I think it is outstanding what they have done with this case.
The SC7421-450 is the company’s entry-level chassis and retails for £211.44. That might sound like lot cash but Super Micro also makes cases that sell for £1,300. Then again, such a chassis does have 15 drive bays, ... ...47KG.
The whole chassis is made from tough steel, but again weight is a problem, with this taking a majority of the mass at 21KG, so therefore if you like playing in LAN fire parties this isn’t the case for you.
The build quality and finish are excellent except for the plastic door that’s so stiff you might often need a screwdriver to prise it open.
Down the front of the case are four 5.25in external drive bays, and a further seven 3.5in external ...

Antec 900 Gaming Case
Review of Antec Tower by
arsenal-kid
Advantages: air flow, looks, and strenth.
Disadvantages: Dust with clock up in the case as there is alot of air going in.
the antec 900 is the gaming case for you custom builders. it has fantastic airflow, durability and beautiful window on the side with an optional 120mm fan. this case has a beautiful blue led on all fans which are included in the case. This case has the following:
- 1 top 200mm TriCool fan with 3-speed switch control
- 1 rear 120mm TriCool fan with 3-speed switch control
- 2 front 120mm special black TriCool blue LED fans with 3-speed switch control ... ...cool graphic cards
- 1 middle (optional) 120mm fan to cool CPU or graphic cards.
this case is a hot hot product to buy. It has everything you need, the looks is there and the cooling system is fantastic. The only let down in this case has to be the amount of dust which will be entered into the case. this case will defiantly need hoovering every 1-2 months due to its massive airflow pulling air in from the front 2 fans to cool hard drive and continuing ...

CoolerMaster CM690 is the master!
Review of Cooler Master CM 690 by
hairyheppers
Advantages: Cheap, well ventilated, screw-less design
Disadvantages: None for me.
When upgrading my computer and installed the new parts in my old case, this proved to be a bit of a silly idea as the temperatures it was running at was too high.
Having largely spent out on the upgrade i wanted a fairly cheap case.
The CoolerMaster CM690 looked like it was to fit the bill perfectly, its was fairly cheap approx £55, it did NOT come with power supply, which for me wasn't a problem as I'd just bought a new CoolerMaster Real Power ... ...very good and feels light when empty. It also feels sturdy and well balanced on my desk and on carpet, although a carpet with too high a pile on it could interfere with the PSU exhaust and the mounting for another fan.
The front and top of the case is basically a big grille which obviously helps with letting the hot air escape.
Access is very easy, 2 thumb screws and you're in.
What helped me was my power supply as mentioned above was a modular ...

Jeantech Phong II
Review of Jeantech Phong V2 JNH70 by
wilding2004
Advantages: Excellent cooling, low price, good expansion
Disadvantages: Cheapish build quality, Not really a looker.
Yes the jokes have been done already, it does sound like a pair of pants!
This, the Phong II, is the updated version of the original Phong which was applauded for its good cooling at a bargain price.
This is still a budget case at under £50, so to keep costs down it's made from steel rather than aluminum, and it's......Uh how can I put this.....UGLY. But it's still the best budget case around - It has excellent cooling capabilities thanks to its ... ...fans, they're in the standard push/pull configuration. The front fan is a 140mm unit that blows directly over the hard drive bay. The rear fan is a 120mm unit located under the PSU to expell hot air from the back of the case. Both fans are wired to a built-in fan controller. This is powered from a 12v molex. The controlls are located on the facia next to the power button and power/H.D LEDS.
There is an air duct on the side panel that can be adjusted ...
