Being a lover of all things Cadbury’s I jumped at the chance of trying the new Dairy Milk with Shortcake. I suppose I was a bit apprehensive at first, thinking that additional bits in my chocolate would spoil the taste of the Dairy Milk. However, I was soon proved wrong – it is absolute heaven and adds even more excitement to a bar of Dairy Milk.

Packaging
The Packaging is not unlike the original Dairy Milk packaging. It is mainly in the signature purple colour with “Cadbury” in gold writing across the top. Below this it says “Dairy Milk” in purple writing on a white banner. To the right hand side of the bar is an explosion of turquoise. Inside this it says “with shortcake biscuit” in white writing and there are pieces of cream coloured shortcake bursting all over the background.

Smell and Appearance
It smells all sweet, creamy and chocolatey just as you would expect from a Dairy Milk. Again, it looks exactly like a bar of Dairy Milk, divided into six chunks. Not sure if the chunks had Cadbury’s written across the top as it did not last long enough for me to notice. I did however notice that you could see the round chunks of shortcake sticking out round at the bottom of the bar in the same way that you see with the Fruit & Nut, etc.

Taste
When I first put a piece in my mouth I was hit with the creamy texture of Cadbury’s. The piece melted in my mouth and I was hit with the chocolate shortcake pieces, of which there were many. They give the bar an overall crunchy feel. As I crunched my way through the shortcake I noticed that it was sweet shortcake, not unlike the base they use in those “Animal” biscuits and “Cadbury’s Snack”. Why didn’t they just call it Cadbury’s Snack Chunky? Well I suppose it would probably be because more people have heard of and enjoy Dairy Milk, so it would be a marketing thing.

Nutritional Information
For all you calorie counters out there I can tell you that there are 250 calories per bar and 13.5g of fat. There is a warning that it may contain traces of nuts. Milk Solids and Cocoa Solids are both 20% minimum. The bar weighs 49g.

Do I recommend it and would I buy it again?
Absolutely and definitely. The simplicity of the bar makes you wonder why they did not think of this years ago. It is absolutely delicious. You get the normal buzz you get from a bar of Dairy Milk with the added excitement of crunchy shortcake pieces throughout. If you haven’t tried one already, I would nip out to the shops and get one now. They are well worth 45 pence I paid for the bar, you may find it cheaper elsewhere though.

Thanks for reading.
