Imagine, if you will, some future world devoid of cocoa trees. Imagine an archaeologist picking over a landfill site and uncovering a sweet wrapper or two. A purple piece of foil with TWIRL in bright yellow letters catches his eye. "Hmm, most interesting," he remarks and putting his eyeglass to the wrapper he marvels at the list of ingredients: "Milk, Sugar, Cocoa butter, Cocoa mass, Vegetable fat - I know some of these." He reads on, "Emulsifier E442 - certainly heard of that one!" After further careful study he may arrive at the assumption, "These people certainly knew a good thing. I wonder what it tasted like!"
What a poor world that would be!
Happily, back in 2005 you can try a Twirl for yourself whenever you like. And are YOU in for a treat!!
Twirl is made by Cadbury, a name synonymous with chocolate throughout the civilised world - and parts of Stepney. It is milk chocolate at its best! It is chocolate perfection with little to rival it in taste, in quality and in texture. It is the quintessential milk chocolate treat. It is chocolate in a novel form - cool, soft and sexy. Cadbury's Twirl is, in short, almost as good as sex and it lasts a lot longer!
Yes, a Twirl will keep you feeling good all day. Strip away the sexy purple wrapper et voila, you are presented with not one but two fingers of pure virgin chocolate - one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Mmmmm! I cannot wait to get my mouth around these babies!
But hold back - be patient. Don't rush in and consume all in one go. Take your time and be gentle. Let your lips and tongue do their work and the chocolate will yield more readily to the bite. Your mouth will fill with the cream of melting chocolate - a taste so rich and all so smooth; a taste so sweet and deliciously seductive.
In the words of Hot Chocolate's the great Errol Brown:
---- "Every one's a winner baby!" ----
So let's hear it for Cadburys!
---- "I believe in miracles, where you from, you sexy (chocolate) thing you! ----
From Tescos or any other number of retail outlets.
---- "How did you know I needed you so badly?" ----
I didn't. I was just sitting there on the counter when you came along, ripped off my wrapper and bit me on the bum! Ooooh baby that was good! Gimme five!!
Cadbury's Twirl is gentle on your teeth too. Bite too eagerly into a bar of solid chocolate and you're likely to scream "Merde! There goes that tooth again - that's gonna cost an arm and a leg, never mind the pain!" But not so with a Twirl. Whilst it teases and plays hard to get - appearing as a rock-hard stick of chocolate - it's soft flaky centre will offer little resistance and it will soon succumb to your wicked intentions.
Chocolate is a feel good food. It contains traces of a number of chemicals, which can diminish anxiety and produce feelings of well being, elation and even ecstasy.
Cadbury's Twirl can be bought for around 35 to 45p, depending on where you shop and occasionally may be found on special offer promotion prices of 4 for a pound. Twirl is also available as a king-size bar, in single fingers and in multipacks, although I have yet to see them. However, I have seen minibars of Twirl in boxes of Cadbury Heroes assortments.

The botanical name for cocoa is "Theobroma Cacoa" meaning Food of the Gods. The native Indians of Central and South America made a spicy drink from roasted cocoa beans and, as far as I know, still do when they cannot get their hands on a Coca Cola.
One of my forebears, the intrepid explorer William Newby, braved swamp and fever in the tropical rain forests of the Amazon in his search for the cocoa bean. Sadly, he was speared by a Maya warrior who objected to him grabbing his cocoa beans. (The cocoa bean is the local currency of the Maya). Thus cruel fate denied him the chance of fame and fortune and it is a young Quaker by the name of John Cadbury that history now remembers.
In 1824 John Cadbury opened a small grocery shop in Bull Street, Birmingham and six years on a fledgling Cadbury company was making chocolate and cocoa beverages. When a method of making solid 'eating' chocolate was devised (by the addition cocoa butter) the company began to develop its own recipes for chocolate confectionery. In 1905 the first bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate appeared. Throughout those early beginnings quality has been Cadbury's byword and today the company is one of the world's largest chocolate producers and market leaders.
No stone has been left unturned to bring you these wonderful facts about chocolate. I have scoured by daughter's junior encyclopaedia and studied the backs of all my cigarette cards. I have consulted the great oracle down at The Red Lion, and I have sought wisdom within the hallowed halls of the Rising Sun, the King's Head and the Bull.

...back in 1824 when John Cadbury opened his first shop in Birmingham. It was not till 1897 the first milk chocolate was developed for eating. In 1905 Dairy Milk was launched. Since then the company has continued to grow and expand both markets and product ranges. They have merged with Fry’s and Schweppes but since have de-merged with Schweppes. By 2003 they had become the number one confectionery company in the World.

The Twirl Bar was first produced in the early 1970’s specifically for the Irish market where it was also made. In those days it was a single finger similar is size to the Flake Bar, but by 1984 it had become a twin bar. Only in the 1990’s was it sold and marketed outside ...

I have to say that I have always admired the Twirl’s wrapper. For such a new chocolate bar the wrapper is really quite classy. It is a metallic deep purple colour with the word “Twirl” written in large yellow letters across the centre of the wrapper. The yellow contrasts with the purple nicely. The letters are slightly curved and the dot above the “i” is a spiral. Above the letter “t” is the word ... ...when you can buy a Cadbury Fudge for 15p. Of course you will get better value for money if you buy a multi-pack. On the whole, though, I guess the value for money is pretty good but it could be better.
However I cannot help but feel that the Twirl is really now obsolete. All it seems to be is a square Flake, coated in chocolate. As such I can only assume that it has been usurped by the Flake Dipped. I shall have to try the Flake Dipped and see how ...

Dressed to thrill
Cadbury branding is always good, this time we have the deep Cadbury purple ( or is it blue, I can’t tell in this light baby) foil-like wrap with the stunning ‘Twirl’ plastered across one side in yellow lettering. On the back are details about nutritional value, so might well get the small talk out of the way;
Each finger is 115 calories, otherwise we’re looking at 8.1gms of protein, 55.9gms of carbohydrate and 30.1grms ... ...log). The silky, creamy, Cadbury milk chocolate coating quickly melts in your mouth, revealing it’s true heart which is a Flake by any other name. How have they managed this, it’s just as good as a real Flake, hmmmm (this is where the screen fades to black and the sea crashes on the shore), but no mess and two to eat (so no sharing then?), can it get any more satisfying. It’s truly gorgeous rich taste dries your mouth just slightly and you find yourself ...

Advantages: It is chocolate... Disadvantages: Does absolutely nothing for world peace...
Anybody that hangs on my every word (anybody??) will know that my husband and I have a really way out habit. Yes: every day after lunch we share a chocolate bar! I know what you’re thinking; well you’re dead right so hang onto your hats kids because there’s no end of crazy anarchic fun around here!
So to get our daily choccy fix without over-doing the naughty fat grams and calorific hell I have taken to purchasing bars that are sold in two sections ... ...see…Milky Ways, Bounty Bars (preferably plain choccy variety), the goody-goody Flyte bars and Cadbury’s Twirl are therefore all contenders in the Kirsty search for avoiding the slightly irritating breaking-a-bar-in-two scenario!
Today’s lightening morning swoop around Sainsbury’s saw me throw two of these Twirl bars into my brakeless trolley as I haplessly swept past the choccy section and here we are now, after said repast has been satisfyingly ...

Advantages: Cheap chocolate luxury Disadvantages: them Calories again
Chocolate flake covered in chocolate. Have I died and gone to heaven? No I have just bought a Twirl. It comes complete with rather dull packaging - blue with yellow writing. Not good but it covers the bar and keeps it fresh. The most important thing here is to keep the chocolate in good condition. Twirl is made by Cadburys and is a newish addition to the chocolate snack range. The Flake started the range all those years ago. The Flake was the dawn ... ...more money, by making the chocolate into an interesting shape and advertising it heavily. The advertising of course had to rely on those attributes that those with a high disposable income would associate with luxury and with chocolate they chose the luxury of mainly sex. It worked and the Flake was the first chocolate sold as an image rather than a snack. In the eighties, the era of the yuppie, the era of champagne snacks, loadsa money and this ...

The lid on the packaging has changed recently so its not like the picture shown anymore, but a blue label with red & white writing and a picture of a strawberry and crumble.

Advantages: Galaxy chocolate 'creamy, delicious rippled centre and thick casing Disadvantages: Huh?
arr, after reviewing Cadbury Flake and claiming that I would chose a Galxy Ripple bar over it, I thought it only fitting that I should write a review on it to justify my opinion. Fortunately, my step-dad had bought a mulit-pack of 4 so I snuck one upstairs.
It's sitting looking at me now in all it's unopened glory. I have my tea ready because I like my mouth to be hot so that the chocolate melts into creamy chocolate heaven. A Galaxy Ripple is a long (18cm), fairly thin (2cm) chocolate 'log' a bit like a CadburyTwirl or Cadbury 'Flake Dipped.'
You'll pay up to 52p for a Ripple so it's definately in the higher price brand of chocolate due to it being a premium brand (Galaxy).
I think the packaging has changed. The product picture that Caio has provided differs from mine. It's the same tear crimpled edges and the same 'Galaxy ...
Advantages: Lovely Cadbury's chocolate Disadvantages: It's a Twirl!
would imagine. It takes away the total flakiness of the original but is much less messier! You?ll still get the creamy, milky taste of Cadburys chocolate but the texture does make it quite different to that of the original. The smell is also the same richness you expect from cadburys products.
But hold on a minute?haven?t I tasted this before?must have been from a rival company?no?the chocolate is the same, the texture is the same?yes?it?s a Twirl! To put it simply this chocolate appears the same as another product from Cadbury?s, the Twirl. The only difference that I can note is that the Flake Dipped is slightly fatter, a little bit longer but you only get one stick as apposed to the two with the Twirl. I?m not sure how this has happened but it appears that Cadbury are trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
