Being an insomniac, I have searched the globe in order to find something to ease my sleeplessness. Having discovered that hard work can help a little, I still need something to allow me to get my daily dose of four hours kip. This is where Cadbury’s comes to the rescue!

Cadbury’s original hot chocolate arrives in a mouth watering purple pot, with a picture of a mug of hot chocolate in a chocolate mug (enough to make even the most strangest of chocolate haters think mmmmmm!) This product contains sugar, Cocoa, salt, flavourings and of all things… salt! With a minimum of 25% cocoa solids.

The serving instructions on the pot are very long-winded and unnecessary. All you need to do is throw a couple of heaped spoonfuls of the chocolate powder into a mug and add some warm milk. If you find the texture a bit too gloopy, just add some boiling water, making the drink thinner! Having a sweet tooth, I also find adding a spoonful of suger makes it taste just that little bit nicer. The general rule of thumb for sugar being, add as many spoonfuls as you would in your cup of tea!

The serving instructions do suggest that you actually put the chocolate powder directly into the saucepan with the milk whilst heating, and giving it a good whisk. Although this does make it a little frothier it seems far too much effort for a few bubbles! I would suggest mixing in a little chocolate ice cream for a much nicer alternative (who needs froth when you can have loads of calories instead!)

You can make this chocolate drink in the microwave. Mix the powder and the milk together in a mug and put it in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes (do not allow the mlk to boil). However, I must admit that I try not to microwave things too much as a few seconds too long can make your food go 'poooof'. So, I cannot advise you about microwaved hot chocolate, but boiling the milk in a pan takes practically the same time... so why bother!

This product contains 202 calories in each 200-millilitre serving, if made using whole milk. However, I find that using whole milk makes this drinking chocolate a bit too thick and sickly unless I am really in the mood for it, so my advice would be to use half fat milk!

Unfortunately, unlike Nesquick and some other chocolate powder providers, you can only really drink this chocolate hot (it tastes absolutely revolting cold!), but then if you want a cold chocolate drink… go to MacDonalds!

For some reason, I find this drink warm and comforting, allowing me to relax sufficiently to doze off and I would thoroughly recommend it to everybody, especially at the bargain price of £1.59 per 250 gram pot, from your local supermarket!

This choc rocks and in certain circumstances can aid sleep, and I am going to have some right now... night! zzzzzzz
