Advantages Vaule for money, friendly, central location

Disadvantages Small capacity - approx 250

Cafe Mamba is a breath of fresh air amongst an array of cheesy expensive venues in Taunton, Somerset. The venue for those who appreciate a diverse range of music!

Atmosphere:

The general atmosphere amongst goers is very laid back and everyone is very friendly - definately recommended to meet new people there!

Venue:

There is a small cocktail bar on the first floor which serves various shooters and cocktails as well as the traditional pints and bottles.

The main bar is downstairs with a small dancefloor, DJ booth and toilets accessed through the rear doors.

Drinks List:

On Draught - Fosters, John smiths, Kronenburg 1664, Strongbow, Blackthorn, Guiness

Bottles - VK Vodka (various flavours), Becks, Budweiser, WKD, Red Bull, Water, San Miguel, Smirnoff Ice, VS Vodka (various flavours)

Sprits - most are catered for especially on the cocktail bar upstairs. There are also house doubles on offer.

Prices vary but here is an idea of a typical night:

Pint of Fosters £1.50 b4 10pm £2.30 after 10pm
Bottle of VK £1.95 all night
Shooter £2.50
Cocktail £3.50

Music:

A local alternative venue, Cafe Mamba has a varied theme most nights.

Tuesday Salsa Night

A salsa class held for beginners and experienced alike. Traditional and modern music, a good night to learn more about this energetic and often sexy dance and meet a wide cross section of people.

Wednesday Band/DJ/Act

Only open when a particular promotion occurs such as Lisa Scott Lee (ex-Steps member) and Blu Cantrell making appearences recently and the up coming Coolio (hip-hop artist) event. Drinks promotions are likely but entry can be anything up to £10.

Thursday Band/DJ's

Thursday's are locally known as Weekender or their daughter Sounds of the Underground nights.
Weekender is a local promotion company making its high quality mark in the south west. See www.weekenderlive.co.uk for more info.
Generally there is always a good range of underground bands and acts such as The Koreans, Minuteman, Spankboy, Stephenson's Rocket, Chikinki, Duke Special and many others all with a varied sound. Often Indie, Punk, Live Hip-hop and Drum n Bass, Ska, Rock or Electro live bands, the night always proves to be entertaining even if the bands aren't which to be fair is VERY rare.
If you like new or alternative music - this is your night.
Drinks prices are usually £1.50 bottles and pints b4 10pm and start at £2.00 after 10pm.

Friday DJ's

Alternating nights, Fridays are personally one of my favourite nights of the week at Mamba.
On alternating weeks there are Hijacker nights, which is an eclectic night of funk, electro, hip hop, indie, old skool and breakbeat.
There are the popular Resident DJ's and often guest DJ's and acts such as Aspects, Fingathing, Andy Smith (Portishead), Leroy Thornhill (Prodigy) and many others.
Other nights include the locally reknowned Subsonic, a night of break beat, dance, drum n bass and generally 'phat beats'. With resident DJ's including Andromeda, Sharman, Whizz and others this is a great night to dance and get sweaty!

Saturday DJ

Saturday nights are like any other bar with a varied selection of cheesy pop tunes, old skool, dance, drum n bass and hip hop.
Something for everyone, this is a fun party night!

No matter what your taste, there is a night for you!

If you want an alternative and fun place to escape the mundane and expense of a night out in Taunton, Cafe Mamba is the place to go.

Personally, it's my second home!
