Advantages Advantages Competitive APR, logical web layout

Disadvantages Disadvantages Procedural problems, slow response to emails

What attracts me most to Internet finance products is the convenience and flexibility. I want to be able to administer changes to my account and complete transactions quickly, conveniently and wherever possible, without having to contact the bank concerned. The other key attraction should be that there is an opportunity to save money – it’s cheaper for the bank, so it should be cheaper for me. The first Internet product to which I subscribed was a Cahoot credit card, several years ago. This is a summary of my thoughts and experiences over that time. WHY CAHOOT? I was attracted to Cahoot ... more

Advantages Advantages Secure purchasing on the Web

Disadvantages Disadvantages Such a hassle trying to apply for it

I'll be honest, I never for a moment considered opening any sort of an account with Cahoot. Their savings account only offers so-so interest rates, although that has actually improved since I applied for an account. I'm really not looking for another current account, certainly not in order to change from my existing bank. I definitely don't need another credit card, at least, not a standard credit card that is. On the face of it Cahoot had nothing to interest me. Until, that is, I read a small article on the Web. It was one of those regular articles that bemoan the insecurity of doing any sort ... more

Advantages Advantages good rate, convenient to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages I have to start paying interest soon

About a year ago I was investigating the various internet banks with the view of transferring my current account and credit card to an online banker. After weighing up all the pros and cons I opted to put my current account to smile and my credit card to cahoot? Why not keep them together? cahoot was making an offer too good to ignore. For a full year from opening my account in June last year I pay absolutely no interest on my credit card, and no charges for maintainance. While balance transfer was not available I simply used the card for all spending for a couple of months and used the money ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages You still have to pay the bill eventually

Up until I started to use the Internet in a big way for a lot of my shopping and purchases, I had used the same Mastercard for years, obtained from my local high street bank. But as I use credit cards a lot these days for both business and pleasure, and as I don’t always have the necessary readies to conscientiously pay off the full balance every month, I now have a number of different cards that I use for different purposes. I still have my original Mastercard, but with an APR of 16.9% on the outstanding balance, it was simply proving too expensive a commodity to use for all my ... more

When ? What do I remember ? I remember a sunny morning just over a year ago when a colleague told me about Cahoot, the Internet Bank launched by Abbey National that was offering a credit card with a 0% interest rate for a year !! I remember rushing to their website, filling in the application, waiting for the postman and then getting my hands on this new toy !! Now let me tell you a few things - I'm an accountant and I have a fascination with schemes and scams, particularly where money is concerned. I have or have had credit cards with most of the 'big players' and, to be honest (what, an ... more
