Two hoots for cahoot

Advantages: Good interest rates, good customer service
Disadvantages: Some transfers can be complicated, personal page a tad unclear

...in the fund, I found Cahoot to be the next best interest rate and so joined them. I opened a current account and savings account - both of which will be the central focus of this review.

---Applying---

Applying was fairly easy and is online only. You go to their homepage, click on apply and are taken to an interim page which informs you of their eligibility criteria, and what information they are going to need from you. ...
...I try to log in, Cahoot doesn't have me registered as a customer and when I apply again it says I am already registered - it is supposed to bring you back to the place where you left off in the event of such a situation happening. Anyway, 1 quick call to the Cahoot helpline (in which I was answered fairly quickly and was surprised at how quickly the whole thing was over with), and the guy at the other end fixed the problem. I was to attempt to apply ... more

It's Cahoot Sir

Advantages: Low rates, Good service
Disadvantages: Site down time

...I've had a Cahoot credit card for over a year now. The application process was simple and quick, the card arrived promptly and I've had no acceptance problems in any outlet. Periodically there are balance transfer incentives, namely 'reduce you balance by 5%', which offers more immediate rewards than simple lower rate balance transfer options offered by other cards and are truly a inspired tactic. I usually transfer the balance to get the reduction ...
...or made straight from the cahoot website. A telephone helpline number is provided on the back of all the cards. I have called it on a few occasions and was pleased to find the service friendly, efficient and I wasn't kept on hold for ages. The site is fairly easy to navigate, although it has been down a few times since i've had the account, but the provision of adequate telephone services means that this is not too disastrous. Security wise, in ...

CAHOOT- NOT BAD AT ALL

Advantages: See op
Disadvantages: See op

Cahoot is an Internet bank part of the well known Abbey National group. Cahoot began in 2000 & offered only credit cards but recently has added other products to their range i.e current accounts & loans. They have no high street branches & only offer banking via the internet or telephone(at national call charges). Cahoot was one of the original companies to offer interest free credit cards for a set period of time, I can't think of any at the time ...
...trend. I first heard of Cahoot on a sky digital channel known as "Simply money" it was not an advertisement but a best buy, only being offered to the first 50000 applicants(I think, can't recall the exact numer of applicants). My experience with them relates to having their credit card & current account. The credit card I originally applied for offered an Interest rate of 0% fixed for a year, extremely competitive. I immediately transfered all my ...

Internet banking at it's best

Advantages: High interest current account
Disadvantages: None yet

...I recently opened a Cahoot account as I wanted to maximise the interest I earnt on my savings. This happened to be a current account which offers 6.0% interest (as of August 2001 for balances under £50,000) and included a debit card. There's an option for a chequebook - but you get a reduced interest rate and there didn't seem much point to me. The registration process was simple enough - I followed the instructions which lead me through the screen. ...
...point and I couldn't get back to where I was. I called their customer services and was talking to a helpful guy in less than a minute. He said I should register again, and the system would recognise me and I'd be able to carry on - true enough it did, and this time I completed it successfully. Then I was sent an e-mail to say I'd been conditionally accepted and was posted a form to complete. After returning my address ID the account was open within ...

two hoots for cahoot

Advantages: best interest rate, easy access
Disadvantages: difficult to make large cash withdrawals

Cahoot is a division of Abbey National plc, who used to be a Building Society (remember them?) before demutualising then broadening its product range in order to leave it in its present state. Cahoot offer a whole range of financial services: current accounts, credit cards, loans, savings accounts, investment services and share services. I shall focus on just one of these services, the current account. What? ===== Cahoot is an on-line bank, operated ...
...========== Setting Up a cahoot current account can be done almost completely on-line. Besides submitting the usual details of name, address, employer, income, etc. you also need to decide on a username, password, memorable year, and memorable place. You also need your mother’s maiden name. Not everything can be done on-line. Certain formalities are still required to be done by post: signing the application, and providing two proofs of identity ...

Cahoot - A dollop of patience needed.

Advantages: Best rate of interest on deposits, good website generally, and ease of use.
Disadvantages: Poor communications, certain features not working properly yet

I set up a Cahoot account last January, and believe me it ain't easy. To begin with there are about 9 or 10 pages of tedious form filling to complete. But make one mistake, accidental omission or misunderstanding, and the procedure grinds to a halt. In my case, I live in a block of flats, which has a name. On the first line of the address section is "House number". So if I typed 100 for that line, followed by "Wuthering Heights" for the 2nd line, ...
...Cahoot rejected this. After several attempts and combinations I tried to start the registration again, only to be told that my chosen username and password was already in use. Doh!!! This time I contacted Cahoot by telephone. That can be a trial in itself when they are busy, which they often are. Being on an 0870 code is expensive and time consuming when you're presented with an array of menu layers. Then you have to wait in a queue. Anyway that ...

I Could Shoot Cahoot

Advantages: Competitive APR, logical web layout
Disadvantages: Procedural problems, slow response to emails

What attracts me most to Internet finance products is the convenience and flexibility. I want to be able to administer changes to my account and complete transactions quickly, conveniently and wherever possible, without having to contact the bank concerned. The other key attraction should be that there is an opportunity to save money ? it?s cheaper for the bank, so it should be cheaper for me. The first Internet product to which I subscribed was a Cahoot credit card, several years ago. This is a summary of my thoughts and experiences over that time. WHY CAHOOT? I was attracted to Cahoot because the company was set up as an affiliate of the Abbey National group. Whilst the Abbey National is not necessarily the most competitive bank on the high street, I have always received good service from them and as a first stab at Internet ...

Review of Cahoot Card

Cahoot flexible loans.

Advantages: I was accepted where I have been refused elsewhere.
Disadvantages: None yet really!

Cahoot straightaway as they have the highest rating, but still feeling worried about my credit score, I thought it would not accept me. So I looked at Intelligent finance, as someone in a similar position (student debts etc) had posted a positive opinion about them. However, I was refused by them too. By now feeling dejected, and resigned to being drained financially by barclays every month, I carried on with my life. I was paid, and I paid £200 into my credit card hoping to be able to do this regularly and pay them back. But, alas, after I had paid all my rent, loan, bills etc I was left with just £150 to last me all month, so I had to use some of my credit card once more. Late one night I thought, what the hell, it's worth a try, so I filled in the online form, which takes a while, and clicked on submit, and I was told that I had been ...
