Basic calculator
Advantages: Easy to operate, sturdy, no batteries required Disadvantages: Very basic
This really is a basic calculator with very little functionality other than that of the basic addition, multiplication etc. It has the ability to program in exchange rates in order to convert currencies a little quicker, but these would need updating as the conversion rates fluctuate anyway, not saving time in the long run.
If all you want is a basic calculator to do your sums on, this is fine. It has good sized keys, and the solar panel seems to ... ...unbreakable too.
The display is clear, although you can only view up to 12 digits, fine for must purposes. All in all it's a basic calculator that does just the bare essentials. If you work with a PC, the calculator utility actually does much more! ...

Casio MS-8V Calculator
Advantages: Robust design, easy to use Disadvantages: None
...divide and multiply.
The Casio MS-8V does the job rather well, and that's good enough for me. I don't want to belittle my job as it can get a bit stressful at times, so the ease of use of the calculator makes MY job easier.
The Design
----------------
The casing is of a robust design, black in colour and generally gives a sturdy strong appearance; the look of a calculator gives the impression that it can take some stick. It hasn't got wings attached ... ...don't add up.
The buttons are nice and large. I have fairly large fingers, so guys like me appreciate just pressing one button at a time; I think it adds to the ease of use as well. Power
--------
This particular calculator is solar powered. In case you needed to know the battery inside the case is a solar cell battery 1.5 volt. Should you ever need to replace it (I doubt it) the battery number is LR54X1.
Features
------------
The display has ...

Excellent device
Advantages: Easy, durable Disadvantages: None
I have searched far and wide for a simple calculator which has simple functions for what I need it to do. One day, our receptionist at work sent around an email asking whether we need any stationary, so I thought, YES, I need a calculator. I was secretly wishing that this calculator would fill the void in my work life;)
The next day, this puppy landed on my desk. I was so impressed with the functionality and usability of the calculator. It operates ...

Casio MX8V is as easy as 1 2 3!
Advantages: Robust, reliable with big keys Disadvantages: No complicated functions.
...decided to opt for the Casio MX8V. I had owned Casio calculators in the past and been happy with them and it looked nice and simple! It cost about £5 when I bought it in 2007 and I have noticed that there is a very similar model available from Argos now (JUN09) for £4.39. I didn't expect anything particularly impressive for the price but I have been pleasantly suprised. The body of the calculator is very pale grey with grey buttons and a big red ... ...which stops it moving whilst using it. It has a large clear display (8x2.4cm approx) with the figures shown in black against a pale green/grey screen. The screen slopes upwards towards you which makes it even easier to see when it is flat on a desk. The calculator works on both solar power and a 1.5v battery (LR54), the battery is included. I have not had to change the battery yet. I think it works on solar power most of the time I am using it. I ...

The Perfect A-Level Calculator
Advantages: Text book option equates to easy calculations; Great for A-Level Mathematics and Physics Disadvantages: Compared to more expensive calculators it has less features... understandably..
As a mathematics and physics A-Level student, my calculator is a very important day to day tool. The Fx-85ES is everything you'd need at this level, plus much more! One particularly excellent feature is textbook mode, which allows you to put equations in exactly how you'd see them in your text book and inputting is so exceptionally easy that i've found that any other calculator does not feel as solid. The exponential button uses x10 rather than E, ... ...which can confuse you rather easily. I'm sure there are many other useful features for the more hardcore mathematician, but I have and will continue to recommend this to my friends and students alike; If you want an effective, clear and useful calculator which do surds, trig ratios and logs for you, pick this calculator ...
