This first person shooter start during the middle of the second world war in Stalingrad. Over the period of the game you fight for the three main allied countries as different characters, Great Britain, Russia and the U.S. However it is hard to differentiate World War two games and when I was purchasing this I actually heard another customer asking for the 'new medal of honour game'. So will this be any different from the mediocre Medal of Honour series or any other WW2 FPS?
Sound 8 The sound in this game is very impressive, the gun fire is very different for each weapon, voice acting is good, other sound effects such as explosions and tank movement are also superb. In game character speech is also good and usually appropriate for the situation however I feel there is not quite enough of this from both your own side or the enemy. Overall though the sound helps to make the game a very believable and involving experience.
Graphics 7.5 Considering this is a multi format game the graphics are quite good. Facial expressions are clear and everything in the world looks as it should. However there is certainly no innovation and compared to other FPS's such as Halo 2 and chronicles of Riddick the graphics look a bit dated.
Game Play 7.5 The game play in this game is restricted, it is very linear and is never very satisfying. You are regularly followed by other soldiers who are on your side, and although they provide very useful covering fire, they often get in the way. For example they will wait on stairs and prevent you from passing, they also run into rooms after you have sent a grenade in, resulting in their death. The aiming system works well, by pulling the left trigger you can manually aim and this introduces more skill to the game. However many of the single shot rifles that are supposed to be very accurate are anything but. The guns also 'kick' making you loose your aim, this is realistic because many weapons in ww2 had this effect. To counter this you are forced to shoot in short bursts. The AI is not brilliant, enemies either do not take cover or find very poor cover making them easy targets, they will also leave cover to attack tanks with machine guns and rifles, a clearly insane idea. By far the most enjoyable part of the game is when in a tank, you control both turret and movement using each thumb stick independently. Blowing things up and mowing down enemy infantry is done with sufficient realism to make it extremely enjoyable, also your turret reloads quickly and you have unlimited ammo so you don't have to wait long i between blowing things up!
Story 5 You would think the story of a WW2 FPS was a for gone conclusion, wrong. Call of Duty is light on history and doesn't add much more. Apart from giving a slight background to all characters nothing of note happens during the game. Your missions seem to be kill the Germans or blow up their base. There is no sense of journey in this game, I feel it is because you are always swapping between campaigns and characters. You are left very unsure of what you have actually achieved and in many cases you haven't achieved a lot anyway. There is no sense of historical importance within the game, such as that in the opening moments of MOH:Frontline. I found the whole structure of the game was rushed and poorly planned leaving me very underwhelmed.
Length 4 This is an extremely short game with little to do outside main objectives. It took between 3 and 4 hours to complete on normal difficulty and I'm sure it could be done even faster. It is not a very difficult game either, although you can die quickly if you get caught by a machine gun placement. The fact that it is so linear and it is not really fun also gives it a low replay value.
Overall: 7 (not an average) (3 using CIAO rating) Simply this game makes for great rental fodder but think long and hard before purchasing. It is a better game than any of the Medal of Honour series but still lacks in certain area. While it lasts it is good, if a bit more time and effort had gone into it then it could have been a really fine game like the PC version.

Advantages: Great war game, super sharp, ultra detailed Disadvantages: Tanks are hard to control, some missions are really hard
Having bought and completed Medal of Honor: Rising Sun within a week, I decided to delay the time that I bought this game to get some information about it, all the information I read about it turned out to be good, so I immediately bought this game.
The game creates war better than any other game. If you thought medal of honor was brilliant, (which it wasn't), then you will adore this.
It will take longer to complete, the graphics are great, the ... ...and that's not even mentioning the amazing enemy body count! (More soon). You are fighting in the World War 2. And you play as three different countries, Russia, Britain and America all fighting against the Germans, so you also get to play as six characters spread throughout the large amount of levels.
Hopefully the next four sections will persuade you to buy this game, I strongly advise that you do! Gameplay The gameplay on this game is great, ...

Advantages: Online Play Disadvantages: Cant think of any
...it?
Realeased on PC, Call of Duty was soon being called a classic thanks to its super-intense World War 2 first-person shooter action, the feeling of being caught in the thick of battle had never been done better. Now, with this long-awaited sequel, console gamers will finally get the chance to see what all the fuss is about. And even better, Activision has released a whole new game rather than simply re-using the PC version. Everything including ... ...will I like it?
Call of Duty's greatest feature is its ability to put you right there on the battlefield - generating real fear, exhilaration and tensin in the player. The PC's original's defining cinematic has been retained in Finest Hour and though many events are scripted, the game never fails to deliver excitement and incident.
There's no single, linear path to follow as you can fight along with any one of three allied forces. You can enlist ...

Yawn of Duty Review ofCall of Duty: Finest Hour (Xbox)by

Advantages: Intense (sometimes), noisy action Disadvantages: A little too short, dodgy controls, overhyped
Call of Duty is a first-person shooter set in and around various battles from World War II. You take control of characters from different nations thoughout the game, with the ultimate aim of bringing down the Nazi war machine.
If you are a fan of first-person shooters (game screen only shows current weapon while walking around environments), you will probably already own this game. If not, you may have seen numerous TV adverts from a busy marketing ... ...I saw the ad's on TV and was blown away by the footage shown. Unfortunately the graphics shown on the adverts do not mirror the ones in the game itself. This was the first letdown (and not the last). The game starts by throwing you in at the deep end (with no weapon, dodging enemy fire) and is very intense. Sadly the excitement subsides the further you progress, to the point of wondering whether it was purchasing. The controls are awkward, and there ...

Bored of Duty Review ofCall of Duty: Finest Hour (Xbox)by

Advantages: good action, some levels are good fun Disadvantages: cant play 2 up missions, short and some levels are very hard
Call of Duty was stated to be the best World War Two game ever which is the main reason why I bought it but now I wished I hadnt.
The main reason I want to take it back is as it is quite a short game with only about twenty five levels and some of them arfe short and extremely easy which I found very dissapointing.
I also found that some of the levels where very hard to complete and you just gave up after a while and couldnt be asked to try again ... ...I thought that it would be a great game to buy as I thought that it was two player but no it waqs only two player if you wanted to kill each other instead of doing missions even if they were kind of boring. Yet again very unhappy.
Although there are many bad points there was one good point in my view and that is that the creators of the game have made a variety of weapons and have introduced a couple of tank levels but the tanks aiming could be ...
