As many of you already know Modern Warfare 2 has been out for quite some time but I only bought it last month so I want to share my own opinions/views on it.

Modern Warfare 2 was created by Activision and was released in November 2009. The game was meant to be based on the original Modern Warfare with of course new added features. Fans expected a great game after the success of Modern Warfare and they were not to be disappointed as i believe Modern Warfare 2 met the expectations. The game play is smooth and is not jerky which is how I found Black Ops to be. The campaign like all Call of Duty’s was very short but of course multi player can be addicting and you could find yourself playing it up until the release of the next Call of Duty. The graphics of the game are much better than the previous games and the sound features are great, each gun has a noticeable different sound and just by the sound of it you can tell what gun it is! The button layout is customisable, you cant change it yourself but there are 4 settings to chose from. Each of these settings basically just change a few buttons or make pushing the analogue stick up to cause your character to go down. Accuracy was also added to the leader boards so now many people began to actually aim instead of “spraying” (hip firing) their guns.

One of the key features Activision introduced in the game was the customisable kill streaks. Kill streaks could not be changed in previous Call of Duty’s which meant that everyone had to use the exact same ones. There are 14 kill streaks to chose from each requiring different amounts of kill streaks to obtain. The uav is still in the game at a 3 kill streak but they also have a counter uav obtainable after a 4 kill streak. Also obtainable at a 4 kill streak is the care package, this is a package which drops from the sky and can have any kill streak or ammo in it but not the nuke. The predator missile requires 5 kills and is basically a controllable missile from above. An Air strike can be gained with a 6 kill streak. Air strikes were in Modern Warfare you only needed 5 kills to obtain one. At 7 kills you can obtain a Harrier Strike or an Attack Helicopter. The harrier strike is like a small air strike followed by a harrier which hovers above and shoots at people. The Attack Helicopter just comes in and lasts longer than a Harrier, it is more flexible therefore kills more people with its guns than the Harrier does. You can gain an Emergency Air Drop once you get 8 kills. This is just a plane which drops 4 care packages. With a 9 kill streak you can get a Pavelow which is more or less an advanced Attack Helicopter which has a lot more armour. The Stealth Bomber is also gained with a 9 kill streak. This is one of my favourites even though its not that good. It does an air strike in one line across the whole length of the map and is undetectable by enemies. The Chopper Gunner and AC130 are obtainable at an 11 kill streak. The Chopper gunner an Attack helicopter you can control but has the ability to evade one missile trying to shoot it down. This is a kill streak used a lot and is in my opinion very overpowered. The AC130 is a plane high in the sky which for 45 seconds you control and can shoot missiles and fire guns. Now finally onto the Nuke. The almighty Nuke Is gained with a 25 kill streak and completely ends to game, you call it in, a 10 seconds timer starts then it kills everyone and your team automatically wins.

Another one of the key features of Modern Warfare 2 was the introduction of “Pro Perks”. Once you get a certain amount of kills/a certain amount of something related to the perk it turns into a pro perk. These Pro Perks have more advantages than normal perks. For example, scavenger pro is obtained when you resupply a certain amount of time from corpses, (Scavenger is a perk which lets you gain ammo by walking over corpses). As a result of these pro perks, a new form of playing has emerged known as Quick Scoping. It has taken over No scoping as quick scoping takes a certain level of skill. Quick Scoping is basically scoping in fast with your sniper and shooting at an enemy before the cross-hair appears or as soon as it appears. It was made possible by the slight of hand perk. The pro version of the perk is faster zoom in time.

Like all Call of Duty's there’s always one annoyingly overpowered and overused weapon isn't there? In Modern Warfare 2 the overpowered weapon has to be the ump45. Its a sub machine gun with great accuracy and great power. It is used often as a “rusher” class which is a class made up of lightweight (makes you run faster), marathon (unlimited sprint) and usually ninja (undetectable by Heart Beat sensors). The Ump45 can get highly annoying as in many cases its the gun which is going to kill you almost 75% of the time. Although they released the most awesome weapon ever! I mean come on, a riot shield?! How much more epic could it get. Riot Shielding as its commonly known is a great way to have fun in the game if your not a serious player.

Host Migration was introduced to Modern Warfare 2. What a great feature as didn’t you just hate when you were doing really good in a game in previous Call of Duty's and then suddenly the host ends and the game ends! Host Migration basically just picks a new host when one leaves. Even though this works most of the time it is not uncommon for it to fail leaving you very frustrated.

Activision did churn out a few map packs but they were decently priced. Each costing around £6-£8. There were some Modern Warfare maps included in these map packs as the Modern Warfare maps were just excellent. Overall i feel the game is fantastic and that its definetely good value for money.

Thats about all for my review, I could babble on for countless pages on absolutely everything but that wouldn't be enjoyable now would it? I suggest you look on Youtube for a better idea but be warned Modern Warfare 3 is out in November so you might want to just wait till that.
