Many War-based shooters were all the range in 2003, with a new one seemingly coming out every couple of weeks. But they all are a complete waste compared to the WWII offering of Call of Duty.

From the start of the indulging single player campaign, your thrown into action, in the middle of a fierce conflict, battling through streets, taking down enemy anti aircraft guns, while avoiding the bullets that come racing past you head!. There are many other mission objectives throughout the game, including holding a key bridge (as seen in the film " Saving Private Ryan")!! Also you get to charge through Nazi territory in a jeep. Very enjoyable!

Graphically, the game is very solid. The textures are great and also there are good character models with good character faces, and some great lighting and explosions. The animations of the soldiers are fun to watch as they run from place to place shooting, holding there hands on their heads, and making funny gestures and al sorts of crazy things!

The gunfire and sound is something spectacular in the game. Call of Duty's sound is among the best that I've ever encountered and makes the game realistic and makes you feel part of the game more!; Those ricocheting bullets and near misses and thuds when you or a team mate gets hit with a bullet keeps you alert and determined and some times scared that your heads going to get shot off. These are the most enjoyable parts. This game is LOUD! The sounds blend perfectly when with your fellow teammates issuing orders and the machine guns fire blasting at you. The explosions make your head shake, and you wont be able to move form you key board, its so intensifying. The only weak points were some of the Russian troops dubbing. They are dubbed in English, which is a bit annoying, because it makes it seem silly. I would have preferred subtitles.

Enemy AI is also excellent, with the Nazi soldiers running and ducking, to save them selves from the allied soldiers. Also all the soldiers will hide behind crates, react when fire is coming their way and also engage in close combat with the butts of their rifles, when they feel the enemy is near.

But there is much more chaos in the multiplayer part of the game. Multiplayer comes with a few different types of play. There's the standard deathmatch and team deathmatch, which many players like myself find is good too increase your skills for the single player. Also there are also three different modes of play that are a bit more interesting. The first of these is Behind Enemy Lines, which sets a number of players as Allied players scattered across the landscape. The rest of the players will be Axis. Every time an Axis player kills an Ally, that Axis player turns into an Ally. The longer a player stays alive as an Ally, the more points earned. Very fun!!

Call of Duty is a must buy for anyone who has enjoyed a first person shooter. Even if WWII warfare isn't your thing, this is sure to delight you!! From the moment the first bullet is fired , until the last soldier standing, this game will amuse and intensify you, giving a great gaming experience overall!
