Anyone with a child will tell you that you pretty much have a bottle of Calpol in your cupboard for years and generally have to administer it quite a few times during the month. I really like Calpol as a medicine for my little boy and girl as it is a very good fever reducer because it contains paracetamol and in the right dosage for them.

Calpol is basically a liquid form of paracetamol and is intended to relieve pain and fever in many conditions including teething, headache, toothache, sore throat, earache, and so on. What's great is that it really is a heal all medicine in babies and will take care of most of the first problems that they will suffer from. Of course it is not a very strong medicine and the suspension means that it just temporarily takes the pain away, suspends it if you like until baby falls asleep or the pain subsides somewhat.

Normally Calpol comes in a glass bottle but sometimes I find this is not always convenient. For example there have been various times when we have been on a daily/nightly Calpol regime but have been away for the weekend at say Grandparents house and it is not always suitable to transport a glass bottle with us. This is where these sachets of Calpol really come in handy. You can carry them around with you and don't have to worry about them breaking or leaking in your change bag.

Each sachet contains 120mg/5ml of paracetamol which is one dose for a child aged 1 to 6 so these are perfect for my little girl so she can just have the sachet and that is enough. The thing I like about these sachets is that you can administer them by just opening the top and pouring it into your littles ones mouth. At first it does take a bit of practise and I just cut one corner and pour it like that but its good to know you don't have to use a measuring spoon if you don't need to or if you don't have one. The medicine is the same as in the bottle, the Calpol is a thick sticky liquid and has quite a sweet strawberry taste I'm sure to make it appealing to babies and a flavour that kids seem to love.

The sachets are a bit more expensive than the bottle. You can buy a pack of 12 for £2.65 but for pure convenience they are great to have around.

On the side of the box the dosage limits are given. It does this by age and also tells you to not exceed the stated dose. Of course, I am not a doctor so if you have any questions or concerns I would always say see your doctor.
