Calvin Klein hoped to capture 100% of the perfume market.By manufacturing a perfume that was unisex this product could be seen as being either innovative or a marketing hype to gain further sales!
Calvin Klein the brand started life as a high market casual wear fashion house, in the States, acclaimed for his jeans wear and underwear mainly. As with most fashion houses of the time it was soon to move onto the perfume/toiletries market. Luckily the emphasis was still on casual, so the perfumes manufactured by the company were not of a cloying over powering nature ( - well perhaps we could add Obsession to that genre) with a matching price tag. Most of Calvin Klein's perfume range does have a for her and for him bottle.
In 1994, CK One was launched with the usual media hype and famous ad campaigns that is so Calvin Klein. Obviously when marketing a unisex perfume you have to try to draw in both sexes, so it was perhaps a slightly more toned down campaign then of previous. Given that this was seen as slightly innovative back in the 90's Calvin Klein did start a whole "shareware" concept in the perfumery market with other companies soon following suit. CK one won a FiFi International Fragrance award
Give that the perfume by it's nature is a unisex perfume you have to expect a toning down of the packaging! What self respecting male is going to have a shiny, rose embossed box sat on his bed side cabinet? Calvin Klein, went for the total utilitarian austere look. The box states quite clearly that it is made of 100% recycled materials and in all honesty it looks like it is! What you get is a very austere looking box, with a look very reminiscent of recycled cardboard, a greying tinge to it all add's to the fact it's a unisex product. The lettering on the box again is subdued and minimalist.
The bottle was hyped in the media, as being totally recyclable! The cynic in me was under the impression that all glass products were recyclable if people could be bothered to dispose of them properly! Going again for a minimal unisex look you won't get a bottle that could win any awards for design innovation here. The CK One bottle is reminiscent of a half litre spirit bottle obviously smaller in size! The one problem I had with the bottle was that you can either have the lid on (- again reminiscent of a spirit bottle top) or have the spray mechanism on - you can't have both unfortunately!
Now marketing a perfume that is totally unisex is going to be rather a difficult task to accomplish. When manufacturing a perfume you have to look at what the wearer wants from it. Given that most people want something different from a perfume it's hard to come up with something that is going to suit all. The task of manufacturing a totally unisex perfume must be 10 fold harder! Men and woman definitely want some thing different from there perfume. What woman wants to smell like she's just doused herself in a combination of Lynx/Brut/ La homme? Of course the same can be said for a man who I'm sure wouldn't want to smell flowery or too fruity for that matter.
Calvin Klein came up with CK One by blending notes of bergamot, cardamom, fresh pineapple, papaya, jasmine, violet, rose and musk. It was hoped to create " a clean, pure and contemporary scent with a refreshing new point of view" Hyped in the media as as scent that is "light and relaxed, with a feeling that is balanced between brightness and sensuality" and a scent that is " intimate, that you need to be near to smell".
Now does it do all all of those things? From a personal point of view I love CK One, the first thing I notice about it is the fact it smell crisp, with a slight fruity note to it in the initial spraying phase. Once it has dried you still have this very crisp clean smell, but you definitely get more than a hint of all the fruity notes in in it and a very slight flowery hint to it! Given that CK One was hyped as an intimate scent I'm taking intimate to mean pulling here, I most admit it's not my first choice of a perfume to wear for a night out on the town! It's perfect for day wear or a more casual date but as for being a bit more intimate well I'd have to go with Calvin Klein's Obsession or my good old Chanel Allure for that kind of date! Ck One is definitely a perfume that I will be replacing once my current bottle runs out.
Given that it's manufactured as a unisex perfume, CK One in my opinion is perhaps better suited for a woman. It's just a little bit too fruity/flowery for a man. Unfortunately I haven't actually smelt it on a man so can't give the ultimate opinion on that fact. To be honest I'd worry if a bloke wanted to borrow my perfumes, well they might smell better on him than me!
CK One can be found in most major department stores, perfumeries and in Boots. It is a mid range priced perfume. It comes in a variety of sizes along with the added accessories like body lotion

...from the American fashion designer Calvin Klein. This perfume was launched in 1994 and is a fragrance suited to men and women. It is one of several perfumes in the Calvin Klein range, for example there are CK Be and Contradiction to name a few.
The packaging of CK One is fairly minimalist. The box is a plain stone grey/beige colour with silver writing denoting the CK logo. The box is pretty uninteresting and does not contain any details about whether ... ...not. What it does say is that the packaging is made from 100% completely recycled materials. There is a list of ingredients on the box, which apparently include Alcohol, Water, Parfum, EDTA, Tetrasodique (I do not know what the last word is as it was in French on the box). The good thing about the box is that, the bottle itself is a pain to pack (especially as it is glass) but the box protects the bottle and the rectangular shape means it is easy ...

Advantages: Lovely Smell and its on offer! Disadvantages: Nothing much!
...personal favourites! The fragrance from Calvin Klein was one of the first around, it was launched in 1994 and it's still popular to this very day.
Back in 94, Calvin Klein the famous American fashion designer launched his very own first fragrance, being this one CK ONE. After gaining sucess he proceeded with launching more fragrances, CK BE soon followed. These are two of the most well known fragrances from the designer. There are also others such ... ...and kept simple, it's the Calvin Klein way and style of presentation. If they changed their design and presentation now, things would all change for the designer brand.
The bottle itself is simalar, it is kept original. The glass is frosted and transparant and it has a screw cap and sprayer which is brilliant. When you first open up your box the bottle has a screw top lid which makes the bottle look classy. The sprayer is included in the box, when ...

Advantages: Gorgeous day or night fragrance, not overly invasive on others Disadvantages: Packaging may be too understated for some, expensive
...three basic elements of the Calvin Klein brand: individuality, unity and sexuality.
My bottle contains 100ml (3.4 FL OZ) of the eau de toilette. I bought it last summer and it is still going strong (I’m not even halfway down yet) after roughly every other dayish use all year. In my opinion this piece of heaven is therefore well worth the round a bout £30 you would pay for it in England (although if you’re going on holiday to the continent buy it ... ...in France).
cK one is perhaps one of only very few perfumes that can get away with having such understated packaging, as its fragrance speaks for itself. For this reason I really like the packaging, as it does not feel the need to try too hard. It is simple, perhaps even plain, but in my opinion screams ‘I’m such an amazing perfume I don’t need to compensate for anything with my packaging’ and damn does it speak the truth. ...

Advantages: Lovely smell, great staying power, reasonably priced Disadvantages: None
...not the latest perfume by Calvin Klein shouldn't mean that someone wouldn't appreciate it if you gave it to them. I'm saying this because whenever I choose to wear CK One I get asked 'What perfume are you wearing? Is it CK One? It's really nice' - people, I'm sure, are under the impression that it is now outdated and are for some reason 'surprised' when they find themselves liking it. Everyone knows its smell and everyone can put the name to it. ... ...power, more so than other Calvin Klein fragrances I have used.
Coming up to Christmas shops are now doing wonderful gift-sets in their perfumery departments. Being a fragrance that has been around for more than a couple of years and being one that has always been aimed at the younger generations - it is very reasonably priced and would make a wonderful gift for any young lady. Personally I would not buy it for a man because I prefer a man to wear ...

Advantages: Smells nice Disadvantages: doesn't really apply to a perfume
First and foremost, I would like to apologise for writing a review on a perfume, but I'm getting annoyed at my account sitting just below the £10 mark, and couldn't think what else to write about in order to make a few pence. If this op doesn't do it, I shall be even more frustrated!!
Anyway, back to CK One. CK One was the first in a long line of crossover fragrances, aimed at both men and women. This was shortly followed by the likes of CK Be, ... ...few shops you can buy a fragrance named CC Unique, that smells very similar for a fraction of the cost. (Try looking at Poundstretcher if you're interested in anything like this.)
The fragrance itself has been described as 'A unisex exotic fragrance
with citrus' by glamourfair.co.uk. This is quite an accurate description, as the scent has a very definite smell of zesty citrus fruit. Despite it's unisex status, however, I feel it is more of a female ...

Advantages: great perfume Disadvantages: new version each year
I was pleasantly surprised with the perfume that I got it on the plane , a few years before I had run out of CKOne Summer and it turned out they were a special edition and had released another different colour bottle again for each year and I had finally managed to get hold of the latest version and loved this one too, it was slightly different to the previous version but still smelt wonderful.
CKOne Summer is by CalvinKlein and it comes in an Eau de Toilette, it is a unisex perfume and is obviously a limited edition that they bring out every year, I have fortunately got 2 bottles on the plane for a great value so hopefully this will see me through till next year and the new release.
CKOne SUMMER is a contemporary fragrance which is light and not over powering with its fruity fragrance with a hint of musk.
I got this perfume ...
Advantages: Smells just like the perfume. Disadvantages: Doesn't stay on long
I'll be honest, I didn't have high hopes for this deodorant, and in a way I'm glad I didn't. I used it at the gym, and with a good 2 hour work-out ahead of me I hoped that this deo would keep my sweat patches at bay.
WRONG!
The deodorant went on beautifully, quick, and precise...and no white marks on my black top which is always a bonus! Half an hour in to the work out my under-arms felt a little sticky. As I worked harder the deodorant just seemed to work harder to emit its smell of CKOne. Sadly by the end of my work out, I felt like I hadn't bothered with deodorant...and headed for the shower feeling extremely sweaty and smelling of a mixture of body odour & perfume.
In my opinion, I wouldn't go and waste your money on this product, its quite expensive for a deodorant stick and the fact is if I used this everyday, I wouldn ...
Calvin Klein introduced CK One in 1994. Its fragrant nature explores essences of orange, lemon and jasmine. Blended with notes of rose, sandalwood and patchouli. CK One is recommended for casual use.
