CK One Summer 2012

I first spotted this perfume in the duty-free shop at East Midlands Airport when I headed off to Italy last month. It caught my eye as I was looking for a summery fragrance and this one, at first glance, seemed to be perfect. It was bright and brilliant and before I even smelt it, I knew that it would be fresh and fruity. My best friend used to religiously wear a Calvin Klein fragrance and she got me hooked on the collection. I was eager to test out the new offering for 2012 and see if it lived up to my high expectations!

The fragrance is unisex - men and women can both wear it and enjoy CK Summer One 2012. In my opinion, it would suit both sexes however it is very light and delicate smelling, therefore I personally believe it is more suited to a female. If I smelt it on a guy, I would be a tad confused as I think that men should wear more manly scents, however that is just my opinion. Hats off to Calvin Klein though for producing such a neutral fragrance, some other unisex fragrances that I have tested just do not quite cut it, but this one is not so bad at all.

I first tested the perfume in the shop and fell in love with it instantly. It smelt of everything that I dreamed summer would be and got me right in the mood for my holiday. I really wanted to buy some there and then, however I stopped myself. I thought about buying some on the way back to England too however it seemed a lot more expensive so I took the risk and ordered some off the web when I got home. I managed to get a good deal and save a few quid too! Luckily, I now have my summer fragrance that I adore!

What does it smell like?

CK Summer 2012 has a very refreshing scent, it successfully captures many aspects of summer into one bottle and with just one spray you can be taken to a far away place where the sun always shines. It sounds hard to believe but trust me it is true. The first smell that hits you is of cucumber and lime, which then turns into apple and rosemary and finally go to Jamaica with a hint of Rum. Bergamot, water lotus and sandalwood are also thrown into the mix and overall you have a summery delight. The fragrance has many different elements to it but all the while it stays delicate and tasty. It is easy to wear during the day and is far from heavy. The fragrance leaves a sweet smell which lingers on and highlights everything that summer is about.

Is it long-lasting?

Yes. I tend to use quite a lot of perfume - I really cannot help it, one or two sprays never seems to be enough. During the day I can spray this on my wrist and neck and still smell it that evening. The bottle is 100ml so it will definitely last me all summer and maybe some time into autumn and winter too! It is perfect for casual daytime wear!

Presentation

The bottle is very special and is the best so far from the CK One Summer collection. Each bottle is uniquely treated to give it a fantastic “cracked ice” effect. The bottle is a regular shape and has a lime green design with a simple orange font and a red lid.

The design of it is certainly eye-catching and different however I would say that it is a bit more masculine than unisex. It must be very difficult trying to create a fragrance and bottle to suit both sexes however so I am not complaining!

The RRP for the fragrance is £29.00 and I paid £26.99 for a 100ml bottle from fragrancedirect.co.uk.

Is it worth the money?

I think that CK Summer 2012 is great value for money and I would definitely recommend it! I love how fresh it is and how it smells great continuously. For a unisex fragrance, I think that it is excellent quality! I love wearing the perfume and my boyfriend loves it too but he would not wear it himself. I think that it suits females a little better as it has more of a perfume smell than a cologne. Overall, I really like it and will definitely be wearing it this summer, bring on CK One Summer 2013!
