Advantages Strong, unique fragrance. Cost. Lastability.

Disadvantages Considered a bit old fashioned.

Calvin Klein's Obsession, Eau de Parfum is one of my favourite perfumes and I've been buying it for around 20 years or so. I think it's one of those perfumes that, with time, has become a little old fashioned to buy, but I do remember when it first came out and it was one of the most popular fragrances - but I believe that classic fragrances are timeless and if it works then it just works period. One of the great things about this fragrance going slightly out of fashion is the fact that it has come down remarkably in price an amy most recent 100ml bottle of Calvin Klein's Obsession, Eau de Parfum was just £18.00 from the www.direct.asda.com website. I think this cost is fantastic and I'm more than willing to pay this amount.

The perfume comes in a glass bottle that is slightly curved into a solid oblongated oval shape. The main part of the bottle is made of transparent glass and so it's possible to see the perfume through the glass so you can see just how much perfume is in the bottle. The design is very simple, but it's classically elegant and while it doesn't have bells and whistles that makes the bottle jump out at you and get over-excited, it equally wouldn't look out of place in anyones perfume collection. The perfume is sprayed out with a traditionally nozzle design and one squirt delivers a generous spray of the perfume. I tend to find that two squirts is more than enough and so the perfume lasts quite a long time as a little goes a long way.

The fragrance is actually very strong and some might say overpowering, but I find that once the perfume has been sprayed on it settles down after a few minutes and really melds in wonderfully. The fragrance is very rich and the way that I would mostly describe it is that it is very spicy and oriental. It's quite woody and I can sense jasmine and citrusy notes within it as well. It's an unusual fragrance that is quite difficult to describe - which I feel is a testament to it's uniqueness.

The fragrance does last a long time once it's been put on. If I apply it in the morning then it will last through until the evening - and although the strength will diminish a little, the fragrance is still very evident. I think it mostly suits formal occasions rather than the type of fragrance I would want to wear if I was sat in the beer garden on a summery afternoon.

I recommend this fragrance to anyone who likes to stand out from the crowd.
