Advantages: Sound Quality, Affordable Disadvantages: Lack of Remote Control
...Being interested in good quality audio but never really owning a good quality system myself, i decided to splash out on my very own system.
I went along to my local Richer Sounds looking for a CD player, speakers and Amp. I was looking to spend between £300-400, the cambridgeaudio equipment came highly recomended.
When I got it home the A5 amp sounded brilliant. Having the amp makes a real difference to the sound quality, when compared to a normal hi-fi unit. For around £120 you get an amp of a more than decent standard at a pretty low price.
All controls on the front are easy to use, bass, treble, volume, mode select etc. The traditional inputs are available, CD, tuner, tape, phono, minidisc. Additionally I could plug my ps2 and dvd player into it as well, allowing terrific sound output from them as well.
Overall great performance...

Advantages: HDMI Out, DIVX support, mp3 support Disadvantages: Too many buttons on the remote! Slow eject button response.
...This stylish and reasonably priced DVD player from CambridgeAudio retails for approx £150. For a DVD player with HDMI (Digital) out, that is one of the more reasonable priced models on the market at the moment.
The player will take a moment to recognise disks, but once it has found which format the disk is, I have found playback to be flawless. It can play normal DVDs (PAL), also DVDs from the USA (NTSC) and DIVX encoded video. Although I have not tried it, it can apparently play disks with mp3 music on them.
If you need to set the unit up beyond just plugging in cables, then the basic on screen configuration is straightforward.
You will need to refer to the manual for the advanced configuration of the unit (if you have a complicated or non-standard HiFi setup). Just connecting this unit up in the most obvious manner - SCART, etc...

Advantages: Cheap and produce great quality sound Disadvantages: Dont buy if you have a very powerfull amp.
...I recently purchased these speakers for £50 at richer sounds when i traded in my complete system to buy cambridgeaudio seperates.
These speakers have awsome sound quality this is mainly due to the bi-wiring terminals which means that you can run two sets of wires to your amplifier if it is also bi-wireable, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter on each speaker this means that the quality of sound is maintained and there is little distortion, They also have a down firing speaker and produce exellent bass with out losing any higher pitch. They have RMS power handling of 90W at 8 ohms impedance.
These speakers work in harmony with my cambridgeaudio system and if you have a cambridgeaudio amp and are short of money i recomend theses speakers....
