Sony Handycam HDR-SR12E (120GB)
Review of Sony Handycam HDR-SR12E by edjones36

Advantages: Excellent video and stills quality, Large 3.2-inch panoramic screen, Sufficient manual controls
Disadvantages: No wind filter, No HDI cable supplied

I managed to get one of these on test and I must say it was an excellent piece of kit. The picture quality of the video was excellent and so was the performance, as for the still photos, very impressive for a camcorder. There are also sufficient manual settings, so if you’re like me you'll have plenty to play around with. However, you will have to use the 3.2-inch touch screen to get to some important functions, which can be an annoying way ...
...you to save hours upon hours of full 1080 HD video The large 3.2 - panoramic screen is of good size but the screen is still fingerprint prone. The fingerprints can be distracting at times when recording. If you're in the market for a hard-drive-based high-definition camcorder, you won't go wrong with one of these Sonys. If 120GB is too much for you, the HDR-SR11 offers a 60GB drive and the rest of it is the same as the SR12 Good Points * Excellent ... Read review

JVC GR-D740EK
Review of JVC GR D740 by polar_king

Advantages: light, compact easy to use, excellent optical zoom
Disadvantages: no external mic or light no remote

I bought one of these 3 weeks ago to go on holiday. I also bought a spare battery off ebay (£11). I am a bit new to camcorders, only having an ancient Sony before. So having fiddled around with the settings managed to produce the first tape in absolute silence. So then I read the book, and got the soung working again, (my fault) The 740 is AMAZING. even the standard (808)battery will run off 2 tapes before giving up. and the bigger (815)spare battery ...
...tapes (60 min) and didnt run out. Back home connecting to the PC was easy and I just let Pinnacle Studio do all the work. Editing is simple using it. And the results were great. The fold out LCD screen has a joystick on it and you can do just about everything from there. The colours are rich even in the eyepiece viewfinder. This isn't a professional model by any means, not having options for an external microphone, nor built in light, but be serious, ... Read review

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD700
Review of Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD700 by H1tmanRb

Advantages: Small,and Great features
Disadvantages: shakes alitle

I brought this Camcorder recently and i was very impress with it because it's very light, fits right in the hand of your palm and gives you great pictures.Other the other hand when you are recording it shakes a bit which isn't an ideal camcorder. The main thing is that this camcorder recorders onto a SD card which will save you a lot of money because you can record films and take pictures and then transfer it onto a CD and delete it off the SD card ...
...of buying tapes. Unfortunately this camera doesn't broadcast HD but if you have a 720p screen the video images look good as a HD picture. The pictures are quite clear as well and 10 mega pixel for still image and 7.38 mega pixel for recording, it has a brilliant optical zoom of 5x. ... There aren't better
Review of JVC Everio GZ-MG330R by wardy-91

Advantages: Great battery life, good quality.
Disadvantages: Screen could be bigger.

I think this a truly brilliant camcorder. well worth buying!! i bought it last year and it has served me very well, battery is great, and so is the screen! The battery will last for around 5 hours when fully charged which can be great, especially for filming sporting events such as rallying which is what i use it for regularly! I have also purchased a car charger for it which can be really helpful if you are travelling around like on holiday etc. ...
...gadgets to be totally honest! I have it in a gun metal silver ish colour, not the purple colour shown in the picture. It is a good buy, but i suppose i got it for $250 as i got it in america! if you can afford it, its well worth the money.. ... Read review
