Pro-sumer Choice - HDR-FX7E Video Camera
Review of Sony HDR-FX7E by
bananamanuk
Advantages: HDMI, Manual Settings, Large LCD Screen, Quality steady shot, Battery Life
Disadvantages: No XLR Input, Battery charges on camera
...2001 I've been using the Sony VX2000E camera, which was labelled as a pro-sumer model because unlike a small compact handicam, the VX2000E was the top end of Sony's consumer models. Anyone that buys a car knows that if you are ever fortunate enough to buy a brand new car, you always want to try and stay at that level, well the same is true for me and cameras, I'd got the best that I could afford back then and when considering what to replace it with, ... ...again.
The Sony HDR FX7E was my answer. There are numerous settings on the camera, and I would expect that anyone serious on buying a camera like this, would be looking for more detailed technical reviews than I can possibly put here. However, this review aims to be a broad overview of what the camera offers and how it performs in my view therefore I hope it is of use.
CONSUMER/PRO-SUMER/PROFESSIONAL.
The last thing I want to do here is come across ...

Not all it looks
Review of Sony HVR-Z1E by
crware
Advantages: Good 16x9 picture
Disadvantages: Heavy, too many buttons
...the quality is good but Sony still insist on putting vague controls for focus and iris control - there is no distance scale on the focus ring. The iris control is the fiddly little silver knob you can see in the picture. Headphone feed: as with all Sony camcorders the volume on the headphone socket is insufficient. Weight: this is a heavy beast - if you\'re thinking of operating hand-held for more than 3 minutes, think again. You cannot put this ... ...camera, with manual controls designed as an afterthought. If you are a pro looking for a proper, manual control creative device I would suggest looking at similar priced Canon products, or spend more and go for a Sony camera that takes interchangeable broadcast quality lenses and sits on your shoulder. ...

Big Camera, little body (Size isnt everything!)
Review of Sony HVR-A1 E by
gt5952
Advantages: Loads of proffesional features, lightweight, strong
Disadvantages: Microphone too big, just too small!
Sony have done it again, they have produced a camera for my type of lifestyle, and despite trying, this just wont break!
As with all my reviews, the gear I own gets tested to near destruction, some items make it, some dont - others go above and beyond my expectations, or even that of my fellow colleagues! This Camera has seen quite a bit of action in its short life with me, and although things are hanging off it, and held on with blu tac and sticky ... ...high quality!
With the Sony HVR-A1E, you are able to switch between HDV, DVCAM and DV recording giving you full flexibility to record in either Standard or High Definition depending on your requirements. Taking still images is also possible with the HVR-A1E.
As a professional, Sony recognises that your needs are different to that of a consumer. As a result the HVR-A1E incorporates a number of specific features to support your needs.
Just like ...

SONY HDR-FX1 IS FANTASTIC!
Review of Sony Handycam HDR-FX1 by
guydavies123
Advantages: HDV 1080i, LCD Monitor, Hundreds of Professional Features and the Carl Zeiss 1,6/4,5-54 T* Lens
Disadvantages: Ultra sensitive manual focus that takes some getting used to.
...can find all the best Sony accessories for your camera from tripods to raincoats. It also gives detailed useful information on each product and the specific product names so you can search them on Google, eBay, Amazon, Ciao! and the website addresses provided in the booklet. The booklet itself has been very useful to me as I have purchased many products in it and the quality of the products has been exceptional.

I really could go ... ...I would be here all night. I certainly recommend the camera to anyone who makes semi to professional films/TV or even if you are starting to get into film etc. It will do whatever you want, its fantastic and a bargain for under £2000. I have learned so much from this camera; it has transformed me to a much better film photographer. It’s Fantastic!
I purchased mine through Amazon because of the warranty but I am sure that Purely Gadgets are just ...

King sony does it again!
Review of Sony HDR-HC7E by
nelsonsix
Advantages: Quality is unbelievable, handling and control is amazing
Disadvantages: None i have come across so far, I guess you could say cost!
...that the improvement in recent sony products has been amazing. In the past sony have just been an expensive name with inferior quality. It seems that they have stepped up to fix this problem with the latest models, and this camcorder is a fine example.
from working in retail i get to play with alot of the new models and from first hand experience this is one of the best ive seen.
Official specs are- HDV 1080i recording / DV compatible
... ...depending on format. The new sony high def cams take up to 6MP (up to around A4 size prints) which will compete with most of the digital cameras available at the moment.
Along with a super steady image stabaliser and a very nice optical zoom range this cam fits into most of the requirements of the average customer. Another very important point i need to mention is the manual control of the camera. The camera does have a fully auto mode built in ...
