TRV80e is amazing - quality, functions, design
Review of Sony Handycam DCR TRV80E by
speculatrix
Advantages: Genuine widescreen CCD, every feature possible, well built
Disadvantages: Slightly chunky, fiddly controls, bottom-loading tape makes tripod use harder, a few quirks
...now a backup in my Sony Clie. However, as I said, the still image quality isn't a serious contender, you'd still want a proper digicam, but you can conveniently take nice family snaps with this camcorder. This is why I'd recommend buying only the budget 128M sticks and not spend a premium on anything bigger, it'd be a waste.
---- update
I've now had it for just about a month, with the real "combat testing" taking place at my sister-in-law's wedding ... ...poor light. There's the normal Sony "nightshot" mode, which loses the colours (almost sepia-tone) but movement is smooth, and this can be combined with "slow shutter". Slow shutter, used with or without nightshot, has four settings, the first level gives useful colour results in poor light without causing too much blurring. The second level has noticeable blurring/jumping of movement, and three and four are more like special effects with blurring ...

Older than some others, but a lot wiser
Review of Sony Handycam DCR TRV60 by
sajidgidda
Advantages: 2MP Stills, Memory Stick PRO Compatible, Touchscreen
Disadvantages: No manual shutter or iris control
...course, it wouldn’t be a Sony if it didn’t have at least one new feature to add to the already impressive roster, and the DCR-TRV60 doesn’t disappoint on that score. The key additions here are a 2.1-megapixel CCD, support for the new Memory Stick Pro format and the first true widescreen-recording mode on a home-consumer camcorder.
A new camera sensor and support for a new memory format might appear to be more useful in a digital camera, but they ... ...true widescreen image. Sony has also introduced a progressive-scan mode to the range. It’s a standard feature on other manufacturers’ camcorders, and it enables the TRV60 to record video as a sequence of frames, as opposed to the conventional interlaced fields. Physically, the camcorder is comfortable to handle ,although I’d have preferred a side-loading tape drive instead of one on the bottom, as it can get a little tricky changing tapes in a hurry. ...

MAKING MISCHIEVOUS MOVIES!
Review of Sony Handycam DCR TRV80 by
jellybean11
Advantages: Excellent image quality, 2.1 megapixel sensor, smooth operation, manual focus ring, Bluetooth and networking functionality
Disadvantages: Limited manual overrides, no alternative to touch-screen operation, occasionally awkward ergonomics
When it comes to camcorders it’s fair to say that you pretty much get what you pay for. Higher prices usually mean better image quality, longer battery life, a lighter body and a whole host of extra features that you don’t see on the cheaper models. This camcorder is in the higher price range bracket, but is it really worth paying over £1000 for a camcorder when you can get one for a fifth of the price? The DCR-TRV80 is a relatively new offering ... ...camcorder. The camera boasts a 2.1 megapixel sensor, a multitude of the latest features and accessories as well as responsive automatic controls; on paper this camcorder would seem tailor-made for any point-and-shoot videographer (or at least those with a big budget!)
~~~DESIGN~~~
This camcorder has a relatively compact body with a hand-grip design which means it is configured for handheld shooting and essentially this is how the camcorder is ideally ...
Brilliant budget camara
Review of Panasonic NV GS230 by
tomc123
Advantages: Easy to use and very very cheap
Disadvantages: no lens cover and no built in light
This is the new Panasonic NV GS230. This is an incredibly versitile little camera and at the price is very affordable. This is a very easy camera to use and its functions are very easy to understand although they are quite basic but if your like me and don't want hundreds and thousands of little buttons flashing at you it is perfect.
Now before you ask i know this is a mini dv camera so i know its not the most recent in camera technology but i really ... ...unless your filming for amateur films or something i really cant see the need to spend that much more when mini dv is perfectly acceptable in fact is more than adequate and is excellent value for money.
For stills this camera offers 2.3 mega pixels not brilliant but if you want good stills use your digital camara!! its not what its built for.
The camara also offers SD storage for that extra memory space which i personally find very useful.
...Brief Description
*******************
The JVC Everio GZ-MG26EY is a very compact little hard drive camcorder with a 20GB hard disk, 32x optical zoom, widescreen, LCD display and many other features I will go into later. It fits nicely into a small shoulder bag and can be carried around quite comfortably ready to shoot if needs be. It feels very nice when strapped in to your hand and all basic fuctions are easily accessible with the one hand holding ... ...*******************
You get the JVC camera, a audio video lead to connect to a television, a charger and battery and a remote control which comes in handy. Also a lens cap and hand strap. You do not get a bag or holder of any kind so you will need to purchase one of these seperately. You also get a set of very easy to follow instructions.
