...tiny budget I chose the samsung as it seemed great for the money. So far the camcorder has been brilliant , easy to use, easy to transfer to tv, small, caompact and smart looking. The only real problem has been that it chewed a tape and we had to break the tape to get it out so we were upset about that. I bought this as an ex-demo item through eBay, and have been delighted with it. The 40x optical zoom is the star feature as far as I am concerned. I tried filming birds in the garden, and it';s surprising how fearsome a robin can look when it ffills the frame! The unit is comfortable in the hand, and all the filming controls are well positioned. So far, I have just used DVD-RWs, and these have worked fine when replaing the recordings on my desktop ... I am a professional film maker. most times I shoot with Canon XM2 cameras. The tech spec of this interested me, its seems the money gone into the camera spec, not the frills. Ease of use is a big plus, easy to hold steady with both hands and the zoom..well superb. A brilliant all rounder and cheap enough to buy two which I did.
