Great HD camcorder at a very reasonable price
Review of Sony Handycam HDR-SR5E by DANIEL.P.FORD

Advantages: Clear, crisp images with vivd colours, no tapes/DVDs needed, price
Disadvantages: Have to use docking station when charging, AVCHD files not widely used

I recently bought this camcorder from Ebay for £440.00. The model that I have is the American model but all the SR5s are universal and you can simply change it to PAL mode in the menu. I been very impressed so far and would certainly recommend this camcorder to anyone that is looking to buy a decent High Definition camcorder. Whats in the box Bundled with the camcorder is a USB cable to connect the camcorder to a computer, (via a docking station) ...
...for charging and an AV connecting cable. As mentioned before a docking station is also enclosed which is used to charge the camcorder and connect it to a computer. The Camcorder The camcorder comes complete with a built in 40 GIG hard drive so there isn't any need for any tapes or a DVD. The camcorder works in the usual way, a record button is located at the rear and you simply press once to start and once again to complete the record and store ... Read review

I'm Ready For My Close-Up
Review of Sony Handycam DCR DVD106E by AlanWhite

Advantages: Brilliant optical zoom, easy to use controls, comfortable in the hand
Disadvantages: Slight noise transferred to sound when zooming quickly

I bought this as an ex-demo item through eBay, and have been delighted with it. The 40x optical zoom is the star feature as far as I am concerned. I tried filming birds in the garden, and it';s surprising how fearsome a robin can look when it ffills the frame! The unit is comfortable in the hand, and all the filming controls are well positioned. So far, I have just used DVD-RWs, and these have worked fine when replaing the recordings on my desktop ... Sony DCR-SR32E
Review of Sony DCR-SR32E by caroline9

Advantages: Portable, good quality pictures, docking station, touch screen, spot focus, software easy to use
Disadvantages: Software supplied only has basic editing features, battery life.

This is one fantastic camcorder - and can't be beaten for the price. It's small, powerful, quick to react and I've not had a problem with it yet. The touch screen menus are easy to navigate (once you've read the manual), the picture quality is crystal clear (not HD, but who's complaining at this price) and the sound quality is good - except in high winds, when it picks up more wind noise than people talking. I love the inbuilt features (the shooting ...
...downsides are battery life (so I bought I bigger battery - so the life lasts for hours now), basic editing software (ditto) and it is slow to focus zoom in in dark areas. I'd also recommend buying the wide angle lens accessory for group shots (the original lens is a little narrow) and the sportspack if you want extra protection. These are only minor niggles though - nothing major. Compared to my old camcorder, the no changing of DVDs and the big ... Read review

Disadvantages: Only bundled battery very short life, no additional light built-in

...turn to using this brilliant Sony camcorder! 1.I tried to use NightShot option, took pictures and shoot movie in COMPLETE darkness! It`s amazing!Everything is crisp and clear!Only black and white. 2.This camera has fantastic zoom (optical x25 times, digital x2000 times-better turn off diogital!) and autofocuse!Even with fast zooming!Of course, you may switch to manual focuse as well! 3.Movies are really great!Optionally you may shoot at 4:3(standart ...
...microfone, stereo, recording Dolby Digital! (!!!) The only disadvantage is battery life-aruond 2 hours only, but it is even by sellers and Sony recommended to take additional more poweful battery, to shoot up to 9 hours! Well folks, that`s it at the moment. Will update this review soon! ... Read review
