Manfrotto head - a joy to use

Advantages: easy to adjust, level, high supported weight, sometimes available cheap second hand
Disadvantages: not practical for left handers, the feel of the finish makes me cringe

People pay me to flash at them!

Advantages: Looks good, well built, fully TTL, wireless capabillity, tilts and swivels and I could go on.
Disadvantages: May seem expensive to some but other than that nothing.

TC80 - very expensive. Alternatives save you up to £90

Advantages: Canon - None unless you are a badge snob. Alternative - 1/3rd the price, does exactly the same.
Disadvantages: Canon - Expensive! Alternative - none really, plastic could be better but you've just saved £90
