Gorillapod in the mist! Advantages: Small, easy to use Disadvantages: None Like many other people there are 2 situations that really annoy me when I'm taking photos. The first is when you want a photo of yourself or you and a friend / partner, and there's no one else there to take the photo. How do we usually get round this? Either hold the camera at arms length, usually ending up with half a face and no scenery or balance the camera somewhere on timer and hope for the best!! The second is that of night time (scenery) photos. ... ...hand, but if my night time photography is anything to go by, I shake like I've gone cold turkey!!! Forever am I left with bleary streaks of light and there never seems to be anything to balance the camera on at the time or it is not flat enough if there is! So with these annoyances in mind I decided to buy a mini tripod to finally add another string to my photographic bow. Vivitar 285 review Advantages: durable, adjustable power Disadvantages: slow recycling, heavy I got given this by a friend who knew I needed a flash gun (but couldn't afford one) and he had one to spare. Unfortunately he didn't have the manual so working out how to use it was a bit of a guessing game. Positives: Very sturdy and durable. Flash direction can be adjusted up and down (from shooting directly towards the subject to straight up for bouncing light of the ceiling). There is a switch at the back to turn it on and a light which goes ... ...of the flash is adjustable - this is where you may have problems though if you don't have the manual as some of the power settings are denoted in colours which if you don't have the manual, you don't know what they represent. There is a button to trigger the flash separately from using the camera as a trigger (this is good for tesing if it's working!) Takes AA batteries - easy to get hold of. Finally! A comfortable camera backpack! Advantages: Very comfy, ample space for lenses, room for personal effects Disadvantages: Not laptop-suitable, fabric absorbs liquids too easily ...RANGE OF TERRAINS - Kata has thought more about the use of its product and has accepted that it will be used over different terrains and perhaps, walking long distances. For this, Kata has provided very solid but yet comfortable padding on the on the bag so its soft on your back. And also, they have provided a waterproof coat that goes over your bag for weather that is raining heavily; this will protect your bag from getting wet. The straps are also very well padded so it doesn't dig into your shoulders even if you've packed your bag with heavy items, it still feels quite light. Verry good tripod ... without the original ballhead Advantages: light, stable, good construction Disadvantages: ball head not usable this tripod is a good choice for hiking or on travel. Its just its head too light and impractical.
