Unbeatable for the price and quality
Review of Sigma zoom lens - 17 mm - 70 mm F/2.8-4.5 by acid303

Advantages: Superb value for money, great image quality, good construction, high maximum aperture
Disadvantages: Noticable barrel distortion at 17mm

...when there are no other Sigma designated technologies associated - e.g. APO, EX, DG, etc. There is noticeable barrel distortion at 17mm, which is easily correctable in Photoshop, or using a corrector such as PTLens. Of course, you can only use the maximum aperature of f/2.8 at 17mm, so this is a small price to pay. The lens is also designated as a Macro, which achieves a magnification ratio of 1.27:1 - you will be better off buying a dedicated Macro ...
...at how close you can get to your subject and focus on it with this lens. There's been plenty of times I've been thankful the lens hood got in the way of ramming my lens into something! The focusing speed is not amazingly fast, but nor is it a slouch. Low light focusing is better than what you'd expect, where it takes just a little bit longer to focus, but does so without hunting as much as other lenses in similar price/zoom categories. There is ... Read review

Ditch ur stock lens & buy THIS! 18-50mm f2.8 EX
Review of Sigma EX zoom lens - 18 mm - 50 mm F/2.8 by benzas

Advantages: Lightweight, Compact, Fast f2.8 Aperature throughout the zoom
Disadvantages: Slightly Soft at f2.8, but manageable

I bought this lens as a replacement for the 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 stock lens that came with my camera, and it was worth every penny. The increase in image quality, sharpness and clarity of pictures has been amazing. No more fringing around the edges of bright distant objects. No barrel distortion at the very edges of the image. No plasticy cheap feel. This lens is brilliant, especially if you don't want to fork out the enormous prices for Vibration ...
...in anyway so ha!). Having an aperature of f2.8 makes this brilliant for indoor work, as you don't have to use a flash, or push up the iso to noisy values to get sharp clear images. For example, at 50mm, i can shoot at 1/40sec on this lens at f2.8, my old stock lens would have had me shooting at 1/10sec, which in low light is the difference between a sharp photo and a blurred wasted shot. The other benefit is more creative. Due to the wide aperature ... Read review

A fantastic Landscape an Wildlife Lens
Review of Sigma EX zoom lens - 50 mm - 500 mm F/4.0-6.3 by benzas

Advantages: Fantastic zoom range, exceptional image quality
Disadvantages: Heavy to carry, difficult to hand hold at 500mm in low light.

I recently purchased this Sigma 50-500mm f4-6.3 DG EX lens for my minolta. It is fantastic! Lets get the negative things out the way so we can focus on the bountiful positives. 1.) It is heavy. Weighing in at nearly 2Kg this is no lightweight piece of kit, but all that weight is necessary for the size and quality of optics used. If you have a good bag like a lowepro or tamrac, then it's really quite easy to trek around with it all day on your ...
...fit a 2x teleconverter from sigma to get a 150-1500mm f8-12 lens, the likes of which you cannot buy as a standard lens! You will be rewarded with stunning shots if you buy this lens, and i haven't regretted its high price tag once. If you want to try it out, pop to your local Jessops and see if they'll let you have a play, because it's well worth it. My verdict, probably the most versatile and useful lens i have ever owned, and i plan to be keeping ... Read review

Excellent in every way!
Review of Sigma EX zoom lens - 28 mm - 70 mm F/2.8 by atki5

Advantages: Amazing quality, fantastic value for money!
Disadvantages: Slightly heavier than its competitors

This lens has to be my favourite lens of all time! It is strong, reliable and incredibly sharp. The action on the zoom is smooth yet sturdy, and the auto focus works just as fast (or certainly not noticeably slower) as the far more expensive Canon version. Even the bag that comes with it is classy and stylish, as is the slick black body of the lens itself. Possibly the best thing however is that you just wouldn't expect to get a fixed focal length ... A Close Subject
Review of Canon 500 - close-up lens by Zmugzy

Advantages: Convenient and easy to use
Disadvantages: Lower quality than a macro tube lens.

...the closest focusing distance. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens is a small double-element lens that screws onto the filter threads on a standard (non-macro) lens. Such close-up lenses result in higher magnification when used with longer telephoto lens. In essence they allow you to get close up to your subject matter and are ideal for macro-photography. It allows your normal lens to be focused at a much closer distance- resulting in a higher magnification ...
...to be used with most Canon EF lenses on the market. The Canon 500D is a doublet type close-up lens that gives a correction for chromatic aberration. What this means is that the lens has two elements and is therefore said to give a performance that is much better than the less expensive singlet type lenses that only have one element. It is usually recommended that you should stop down to f/16 if you're using a cheaper one-element close-up lenses rather ... Read review
