Sigma EX macro lens - 105 mm F/2.8
Review of Sigma EX macro lens - 105 mm F/2.8 by stevieray

Advantages: value for money (compared to pro level), build quality,
Disadvantages: makes you think your a pro, but by its nature, proves you otherwise.

This sigma lens is often a favourite starting point for digital SLR users (single lens reflex) looking to upgrade the 'kit' package they bought on impulse in the January sales. "I know, I've got a million pix of my children and cat, now I'll photograph flowers and insects with a macro lens, whatever that is". Don't kid yourself; the whole idea of this lens is to get close-up and personel with your subject matter (insects and flowers being two of ...
...just to add to your camera bag, go and by a mid-sized zoom lens. Macro photography is not for the faint-hearted. It requires patience, skill and an understanding beyond that of the family photo album. But the rewards are excellent. With a good, solid build quality and good optics; it is worth buying if you can't afford a pro quality macro lens. It's a bit slow on auto focus, but if you shooting macro the chances are that the subject is pretty still. ... Read review

Sigma 10-20mm - pro quality at amateur price
Review of Sigma EX zoom lens - 10 mm - 20 mm by jasonandreas

Advantages: excellent image quality, sturdy build, great price
Disadvantages: relatively slow aperture, slight softness in mid-range of zoom.

The Sigma 10-20mm EX lens is a low-to-mid priced lens, aimed at the amateur/enthusiast market and available in the usual Canon and Nikon mounts. I own the Canon-fit, so all information contained in this review is in relation to that lens. For anyone interested in landscape photography, a wide-angle lens is a must-have piece of equipment. With standard kit lenses generally weighing in at the 18mm range at their widest zoom setting, you will be astonished ...
...given the pricetag and the Sigma EX badge - a mark of quality on Sigma's lens range - and the weight is satisfying. It may feel surprisingly heavy for those users previously used to buying at the cheaper end of the lens market. The lens mount is metal, meaning this is a lens built to last and the zoom and focus rings move easily, but with enough resistance to avoid any creep - important at this level of zoom. The important aspect of any lens, of ... Read review

Apple iPod Dock Connector
Review of Apple iPod Dock Connector To USB 2.0 Data cable by CloudRuler

Advantages: Easy to use, decent speed
Disadvantages: Not particularly reliable

This cable comes with your iPod. It's the only way provided free with the iPod for you to recharge it. You plug it into a desktop or laptop computer and your iPod will charge via the power provided to the computer. It seemed adequate enough when I was first using it, as long as the cable works and it's not too slow there aren't many complaints you can have unless it breaks. Clearly my luck isn't too good. The cable broke after 2-3yrs, it didn't ...
...recharge but which is cheaper, replacing the iPod battery or buying a new cable? I wasn't too pleased to find out the price of a new cable so I decided to go with a cheap import from Hong Kong (not an iPod brand cable) which cost me only £2-3 and I've had no problems with it as of yet. I certainly wouldn't pay the £13-16 the iPod cable costs. Overall I'd say the cable is easy to use, fairly speedy but not reliable. I'd have many different types ... Read review

Sony VMC IL4615 data cable
Review of Sony VMC IL4615 Data cable by snowbird123

Advantages: Allows you to upload from Sony camcorder to your PC
Disadvantages: None, it is functional if needed. Shop around for the best price.

...allows you to link your Sony camcorder to any kind of PC. The main thing I would say is, that if you find yourself in need of this cable then the best thing to do is to shop around. There are bargains to be had and quite big differences in the prices charged for it. Amazon is quite a good place to look, as not only do you get an Amazon price but there are other offers to be found there for new cables too. When I was looking the best deal available ...
...to use. Just connect it to your Sony camcorder and then to your PC and you can upload all the footage you want, ready for editing. It uploads all kinds of data from the camcorder - so images, sounds etc. Handy piece of kit, if you need it. ... Read review
