Three Legged Lightweight
Advantages: Lightweight and stylish Disadvantages: A bit flimsy for the professional photographer
The Hama 75 is constructed from lightweight aluminium and might be considered as an entry level tripod that is both stylish and durable. I really like the appearance of this tripod. It comes in a kind of metallic tarnished champagne finish with black trimmings. This makes a welcome change from the more common aluminium grey or black. It is very much on the light side weighing in at 620g. This is a great advantage if you have to carry it around al ... ...ground. The legs of the Hama 75 are slender and extend smoothly and the tripod is equipped with a 3-way head and quick release plate. The central column has a continuous and variable height adjustment that is controlled by a wind up handle - another nice feature that is well designed. I also really like the handle on the tripod stem. This is very useful as it allows you to easily carry it around without a case. The Hama Star range of tripods are ...

It's a tripod Jim, but not as we know it..
Advantages: Lightweight (325g), compact, extremely flexible, rugged, inexpensive, attaches to almost anything! Disadvantages: Only works with genuinely compact cameras
The Joby Gorillapod - goes where no other tripod dares to tread Introduction When you say the word 'tripod' it conjures up a certain image, those three-legged extendable pole accessories which Grandad always insisted on getting down from the loft religiously every Christmas to take the obligatory 'group family photo' (in which no one would ever all smile at the same time, ever). Rusty, wobbly, stiff, rigid and rarely a better solution than ... ...This is where the Joby Gorillapod comes in, and what an entrance it makes! Design Genuine innovation doesn't just take an old idea and refine it or improve on it, genuine innovation goes right back to the drawing board and totally rethinks the original problem and comes up with a totally new way to solve it. And that's exactly what the good people at Joby did with this unasuming, yet intensely practical gadget. Yes, it's a tripod in the technical ...

Gorillapod in the mist!
Advantages: Small, easy to use Disadvantages: None
Like many other people there are 2 situations that really annoy me when I'm taking photos. The first is when you want a photo of yourself or you and a friend / partner, and there's no one else there to take the photo. How do we usually get round this? Either hold the camera at arms length, usually ending up with half a face and no scenery or balance the camera somewhere on timer and hope for the best!! The second is that of night time (scenery) photos. ... ...hand, but if my night time photography is anything to go by, I shake like I've gone cold turkey!!! Forever am I left with bleary streaks of light and there never seems to be anything to balance the camera on at the time or it is not flat enough if there is! So with these annoyances in mind I decided to buy a mini tripod to finally add another string to my photographic bow. After looking at a few normal ridged tripods I came across the Gorillapod ...

Vivitar 285 review
Advantages: durable, adjustable power Disadvantages: slow recycling, heavy
I got given this by a friend who knew I needed a flash gun (but couldn't afford one) and he had one to spare. Unfortunately he didn't have the manual so working out how to use it was a bit of a guessing game. Positives: Very sturdy and durable. Flash direction can be adjusted up and down (from shooting directly towards the subject to straight up for bouncing light of the ceiling). There is a switch at the back to turn it on and a light which goes ... ...of the flash is adjustable - this is where you may have problems though if you don't have the manual as some of the power settings are denoted in colours which if you don't have the manual, you don't know what they represent. There is a button to trigger the flash separately from using the camera as a trigger (this is good for tesing if it's working!) Takes AA batteries - easy to get hold of. Has a 'lock' lever which can be used to secure it to the ...

Finally! A comfortable camera backpack!
Advantages: Very comfy, ample space for lenses, room for personal effects Disadvantages: Not laptop-suitable, fabric absorbs liquids too easily
...RANGE OF TERRAINS - Kata has thought more about the use of its product and has accepted that it will be used over different terrains and perhaps, walking long distances. For this, Kata has provided very solid but yet comfortable padding on the on the bag so its soft on your back. And also, they have provided a waterproof coat that goes over your bag for weather that is raining heavily; this will protect your bag from getting wet. I have used ... ...keep the front side of the bag dry! I know that other major camera backpack manufacturers do not include this. The straps are also very well padded so it doesn't dig into your shoulders even if you've packed your bag with heavy items, it still feels quite light. I'd packed my bag with quite few heavy items, on a bike ride for 3 hours and it still felt light afterwards. Which is a testament to the quality of the build. It also includes a chest and ...
