Olympus FL-36 flash for dash
Advantages: completely automatic when coupled to the E series Olympus, two batteries, very adaptable Disadvantages: Can be slow to recharge when using nimh batteries
...which synchronises perfectly with the Olympus Evol series of digital cameras. I have used it with my E-500 and the results are pretty good. Like the camera, the more you understand what it does the better you can make use of it.
There are several modes available to the user including forced flash, fill-in and normal. The flash automatically recognises what focal length the zoom lens is and adjusts its flash level accordingly. In use this has been ... ...has been right for the zoom.
Unlike many flashes, this one only uses two batteries (AA) which means its quite cheap to run and its easy to have spares in your bag. The head is completely flexible giving full rotation and tilt up to vertical. There is a small diffuser for ultra wide angle which stores away above the lens when not in use.
Although its relatively quick to recharge, it does work better with normal batteries rather than ni-mh. It has ...

A great flash
Advantages: Power, compatibility, high speed sych Disadvantages: Weight
...like me, you have an Olympus DSLR and are enjoying its flexibility and quality, you may well be considering a flash unit. At first glance, the cost of the two available Olympus units is a little off putting. In particular, I asked myself "how will this improve my photography?" Well, I ended up choosing the FL50, and I'm glad I did. This is a seriously powerful flash gun, but its controllability and flexibility mean that you can use it in any situation. ... ...batteries mean that I've never run out of power, if I did they are easy to find.
I considered the Metz flash, but decided that this was more likely to match the Olympus camera more exactly. The FL36 appears good, too, but is much lighter and substantially less powerful. ...

A fabulous mp3 player!
Advantages: Good value for money Disadvantages: Requires batteries often
I had searched everywhere for a suitable mp3 player with the right memeory and this is the cheapest I came across AND it records your voice! What more could you ask for? It arrived quickly and well packaged and there were clear, yet quite brief instruction as it is not complicated to work. I simply went onto the internet, plugged in the USB cable and selected my favourite songs. I use it everdyay. The only problem is, I use it so much that I have ...

For those with VERY deep pockets!
Advantages: Can't think of any - buy a third party battery at a tenth of the price! Disadvantages: Disgustingly overpriced
...in on the research.
Olympus have adopted the BLM-1 package as it's format of choice for it's latest range of mid to high priced cameras.
With a nominal capacity of 1,500 mAh, using rechargeable lithium ion technology, this cell packs a considerable punch in a moderately small unit.
Lithium Ion has distinct advantages over 'traditional' Nickel cadmium cells, being free of the dreaded 'memory effect' - where to maintain optimum capacity, a cell ... ...'manufacturer's premium' of the genuine Olympus product.
I daresay, if I ware to write to Olympus complaining, they would offer some feeble excuse that only Olympus batteries carry their endorsement, and that in the event of a malfunction which could be traced back to the use of a third party product, they wouldn't support a warranty claim. - however I may be doing them an injustice!
I recently bought a Camedia C-8080 Wide Angle camera (which I've ...

It's a tripod Jim, but not as we know it..
Advantages: Lightweight (325g), compact, extremely flexible, rugged, inexpensive, attaches to almost anything! Disadvantages: Only works with genuinely compact cameras
The Joby Gorillapod - goes where no other tripod dares to tread Introduction When you say the word 'tripod' it conjures up a certain image, those three-legged extendable pole accessories which Grandad always insisted on getting down from the loft religiously every Christmas to take the obligatory 'group family photo' (in which no one would ever all smile at the same time, ever). Rusty, wobbly, stiff, rigid and rarely a better solution than ... ...This is where the Joby Gorillapod comes in, and what an entrance it makes! Design Genuine innovation doesn't just take an old idea and refine it or improve on it, genuine innovation goes right back to the drawing board and totally rethinks the original problem and comes up with a totally new way to solve it. And that's exactly what the good people at Joby did with this unasuming, yet intensely practical gadget. Yes, it's a tripod in the technical ...
