Excellent lens to have in your collection

Advantages: Cheap, solid, light, amazing picture quality, great detail, low light ability.
Disadvantages: No lens motor

...Nikkor F1.8 50mm is a cheap fixed focal length lens ideal for portraits and low light conditions for Nikon AF DSLR camera bodies. It has no focusing motor of its own and as such it won't work in a Nikon D40, D60, D3000 series, but works like on charm ...

Possibly the best lense for your camera????

Advantages: Size, weight, fast max f stop, nikon quality
Disadvantages: non

I have a 70mm to 300mm Sigma zoom and a 28mm to 80mm sigma zoom and this small standard 50mm lens. The lens costs about £90 new or around the £50 on E Bay. For everyday photography, I don't think it can be beaten. The two main advantages are its ...

This is a "prime lens" meaning it has a fixed focal length unlike the typical zoom lens. This is probably one of the best lenses out in the market. Often called the "nifty fifty", it's perfect for family photos, portraiture or low light. It is very ch ...

Review of Nikon Nikkor lens - 50 mm F/1.8 for Nikon F

A brilliant lens for portraits

Advantages: good control of depth of field, produces high quality photos, value for money
Disadvantages: Can only go down to f/1.8

I bought this because it was so cheap compared to other wide aperture lenses. It's great for portraits and gives you full control of depth of field. I've got nothing but stunning results from this lens- pin sharp area of focus with a nice bokeh (blurring ...
