Great wide angle for a good price
Advantages: low price, very wide, good quality Disadvantages: not a particularly 'fast' lens
...in shops. The 10-20mm by sigma is a fantastic wide angle lens for the price - many wide angle lenses don't go down as far as 10mm but when shelling out money for a wide angle lens my thought was to find the widest possible for the best price and this was it. The lens doesn't let you down in other areas either - the image quality is superb (no visible chromatic abberation). To hold the lens is a good weight and feels well made. The lens is capable ... ...not a quality everyone will appreciate. From it's early days sigma has made great advances in the quality of it's products which really shows through with this lens. For someone on a budget who doesn't want to sacrifice a huge amount of quality - this is the lens to get. ...

Lens that makes photography a little easier
Advantages: Cheap, good build, good quality photos, large focal range, no front element rotation Disadvantages: A bit soft at 200mm,
...overall focus of the photo. Sigma has found a way to prevent that. I am a massive filter user where I just clip on the filters in the front. Previous lens I had, the front element would rotate and mess up the filter's angle, I would have to go back and do it again. The front element of this lens doesn't so it's a massive plus for those who love to use filters! Even with the cons I may have presented here; I think it is worth the price I paid for ...

Sigma EX macro lens - 105 mm F/2.8
Advantages: value for money (compared to pro level), build quality, Disadvantages: makes you think your a pro, but by its nature, proves you otherwise.
This sigma lens is often a favourite starting point for digital SLR users (single lens reflex) looking to upgrade the 'kit' package they bought on impulse in the January sales.
"I know, I've got a million pix of my children and cat, now I'll photograph flowers and insects with a macro lens, whatever that is".
Don't kid yourself; the whole idea of this lens is to get close-up and personel with your subject matter (insects and flowers being two of ... ...just to add to your camera bag, go and by a mid-sized zoom lens. Macro photography is not for the faint-hearted. It requires patience, skill and an understanding beyond that of the family photo album. But the rewards are excellent.
With a good, solid build quality and good optics; it is worth buying if you can't afford a pro quality macro lens. It's a bit slow on auto focus, but if you shooting macro the chances are that the subject is pretty still. ...

Get Converted! Sigma EX 1.4x APO Converter
Advantages: Hugely versatile. Compact. Light. Inexpensive. High quality. Disadvantages: None!
...those early models.
The Sigma EX 1.4x APO Converter is an excellent and extremely versatile little accessory capable of extending the range and usefulness of many lenses and in my opinion, a valuable and essential addition to the kit bag.
It is of EX designation which in Sigma terminology means 'Excellence' and indicates that it is considered to be within the top quality professional range of Sigma lens products. It has the familiar smooth black ... ...APS-C) or 119mm f/2 on Sigma DSLR's. That 100mm f/2 lens I mentioned earlier will become an effective 210mm f/2.8 lens (Nikon APS-C), 224mm f/2.8 lens (Canon APS-C) and a 238mm f/2.8 on Sigma DSLR's. Quite useful.
The converter is also very useful when paired with a good macro lens, such as Sigma's 70mm f/2.8, 105mm f/2.8 or 150mm f/2.8 Macro lenses, where it not only provides additional working space (through longer effective focal length) but ...

Sigma EX 15mm f2.8 Fisheye - A 'Barrel' of Fun!
Advantages: Good performance. Great fun. Good value. Disadvantages: Limited uses. Canon owners should consider Canon's version.
...new in preference to the Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye, primarily because I thought it might be a better lens than the now aging Canon version. The Canon lens has not been updated in many years, having been designed originally for 35mm Canon EOS cameras. The Sigma on the other hand, is a more up-to-date design, benefiting from more recent developments in both lens design and technology and 'should' therefore, I would have thought, been a superior offering. ... ...as 'good' as the old Canon lens. Very good results are in fact possible but a little work is necessary post production, through image editing software, to get the very best from it. Also, a little aforethought helps when shooting with this lens and some appreciation of both it's abilities and shortcomings are rewarded in better results. In my experience, shooting with a Canon EOS 5D full-frame DSLR camera, I have found it essential to shoot ONLY ...
