Just got home to find my mom in law in bits as the magazine she subscribes to has demonised the German Shepard by stating

"A single bite from a german shepherd can remove a childs head"

The article did talk about some incidents with other dogs but didnt feature any incidents with a german shep. My mom in law is learning difficulties and despite her efforts to make friends people shun her for being loud or excited. The dog never does this. Its her life companion and without her she'd be very lonely. So you can image how threatened she feels when poor articles with baseless statements and no scientific backing.

It would take some hell of a beast of a dog to bite any childs head off with a single bite. This is purely sensationalism and peddling fear.

When i see Greta, my mom in laws german shepard she is always happy to see me and anyone else. The problem is owners. People. People are cruel, not dogs. You make a dog what it is.

I wish candis would vet out things like this. They used a german shepherd yawning as the picture as its showing all the teeth. You can tell by the eyes that the dog in the picture is nott infact angry.

It seemed like an effort to mention every dog name in the book in an attempt to have every dog muzzled. Muzzled aggravate a dog. Why use something that causes problems in dogs behaviour as the solution????

I appriciate the risk from some dogs. But why target the german shepherd with this particular statement? This dog has done much for man. Saving lives in the mountains, discovering narcotics and protecting our children from wasted lives, controlling crowds of violent thugs. The list goes on.

The German Shepherd is the perfect example of mans best friend. Dont take that away from my mom in-law as people could never replace that dog.

Apart from being over priced and miniscule, youd expect quality unbiased journalism.
