After reading many reviews on Amazon and amateur camera sites about the different types of hobbyist level digitalcameras, I decided to buy one of these.
The camera itself has a metal casing and so has a sleek feel and look to it. It's very light weight and compact making it very easy to carry around in a handbag or while, (and most importantly) taking pictures! I found that it took only 5 - 10 minutes to get the camera working from out of the box. It was so simple, I didn't take that much notice of the manual.
When starting up the camera, it isn't slow like they digital cameras of yesteryear. Its ability to capture anything in an instant is one of it's many advantages. The photos it and you produce are very high quality, as I found out the other day when I had some printed off at home.

Advantages: Big enough for the average user, strong, comfortable to carry, flexible in use. Disadvantages: More than one very long super-telephoto lens would be more difficult to accommodate.
Canon gadget bag
When I recieved this bag I expected the bag to be slightly bigger than it actually was, but it is very flexible to use and you can fit a surprising amount of gear into it, without it being so big that it is awkward to use.
I have two camera bodies, an EOS 40D & an EOS 50D, not the smallest EOS cameras by a long way, and four lenses, a 10-22mm wide angle, a 17-85mm, a 60mm macro and a 70-300mm tele-zoom, plus a few acessories, which all fit quite easily into it, with room for another lens, lenshoods or a flashgun should I need it.
The bag is designed so that all your equipment is easily accessible, with everything to hand, and the dividers keep everything in place, so you are not continually searching around for things lost in the corners of the bag, in fact there are no sharp corners inside this bag ...

camerabags are generally expensive and I can justify £15 for a generously-sized generic bag but not for a tight fit lightweight soft case. The problem is the brand. Anything with a brand on it is bound to be extortionate. But it's not just that...
GOOD AND BAD
I was extremely lucky in finding one on ebay for £2 + £2 P&P and I have to say that under £8 is the price that this soft case deserves. It is just a soft case with "Canon" logo on it. It is padded enough to avoid your monitor being scratched but don't plan on bashing it (or, even worse, drop it) too much as it's just not padded enough to prevent real damages to the camera. What's good is that on the back it has a belt loop so that you can attach the bag with the camera inside safely on your belt.
