I bought my Canon AE1 many years ago, new. I used it for my coarse work at college and was able to take a wide variety of photographic shots with relative ease, and all with good results. With a few different aperture and speed setting a wide range of effects are possible. Timed shots allow you to set up a shot and enter into it yourself. You can use a whole range of lenses and filters with it (as I did). It is a very compact, versatile camera, for people who want to have input into their photographic results rather than just point and shoot. The instruction booklet was clear and very easy to follow. I have to admit that I sold mine - something I have always regretted. I wanted a digital camera so gave it up in part exchange. The man who bought it from me commented on the Canon AE1 model being the very best and took it from me with a glint in his eye no doubt! I missed it terribly, and still do. It wasn't long before I upgraded my digital camera in an attempt at getting somewhere reasonably close to the AE1. I didn't manage it. Most definately the Canon AE1 Program Compact Camera was the best I've ever had. I would reccomend it to anyone.

I have an AE1. I don't use it very often, I have to admit, and really ought to blow the dust off it now and then but digital's so much easier! ~Sharon
