I bought this printer as it was one of the cheaper models on the market(about £55), and being a student, that was quite appealing. As a plus point, the printer is both easy to use and install. It's compact size means that it fits quite neatly on the desk, however it doesn't have a tray to collect your print-outs so you have to catch them before they fall on the floor and smudge.
I have found that the printer jams up more often than you would expect and the print quality isn't always that good. To be quite honest, it really isn't worth saving a few pounds on buying this model. You might as well splash out on a decent quality one as you will save money in the long run.
Advantages: CHEAP, SMALL Disadvantages: ONLY GOOD FOR LIGHT USE
I bought the Canon because it was cheap (yep, let's be honest. here, I'm a penny-pincher!). I got it for £30 with my PC package (which was NOT cheap!), from Currys.
I am impressed with the fact that this printer is quite small, and so can go just about anywhere. It is also quite light, making it easy to move it around. It can be quite loud, but you get used to it after a while. It is quite slow if you are printing anything in fine print, and can ... ...the reviews I have read you can get a much better printer for just £30-40 more (the RRP on the Canon BJC-1000 is around £55).
I would reccomment that if you are going to use a printer a fair bit, spend a bit more and get a better printer. ...

Advantages: Cheap start-up price. Disadvantages: Expensive cartridges and only one cartridge at a time.
...is the second of two canon printers that I have owned and on the whole I have found it to be good. I will admit that when I purchased it I was only attracted to it because of its price. It was very cheap when compared to the other brands that were available at the time (it cost about £60 from Dixons about two years ago). However after getting it home and setting it up it struck me that there were several other benefits to it.
Compared to a lot of ... ...to use it. Original Canon cartridges are very expensive to buy but it is possible to purchase clone cartridges much more cheaply, I have been buying recycled cartridges from Dixons which are still quite expensive but a lot cheaper than the Canon originals. Alternatively it is possible to refill the cartridges yourself using ink that can be purchased from a huge number of supplies. This is possible because unlike most modern printers the cartridges ...

I bought a Canon BJC-1000 printer when on a tight budget and was pleasantly surprised by its performance. The Canon BJC-1000 is a very good budget printer, offering a print quality which will be more than good enough for the average home user. It is easy to setup under Windows 98, simply a case of running the CD and I have never had a problem with paper jams or such like.
One of its major weaknesses is however, its speed. Printing a large document ... ...Another problem is that the Canon BJC-1000 is one of those printers which requires you to switch the ink cartridges around if you intend to print in colour or in black and white, there is no space provided for both cartridges at once. True, this is not too much of a problem and if you are not too worried about ink expenditure then the colour cartridge prints in black as well by mixing the colours. Overall though it is a very solidly designed printer ...

Advantages: good quality printing Disadvantages: expensive cartridges
I have recently purchased the Epson 740, after returning a CanonBJC1000 I had purchased and was not at all pleased with (see review)
I have found the Epson 740 to be a reliable, easy to use printer which produces good quality prints at a good speed and at a reasonable price. The cartidges are not cheap but a search on the internet came up with much cheaper prices from various sites.
QLS,auction site came up with good quality replacements at a reasonable price. Well done Epson for a good printer but please try and keep the cost of your consumables down. ...
Advantages: Quick printing, Cartridges last a long time Disadvantages: Images only come out alright on high def
, or the paper may get stuck if you have too much in at once, but for the price it came at, it was well worth it!
You can also use a large variety of paper in it, with different settings for each, so it prints with enough ink and on the right places. This can be useful when printing photos onto glossy paper.
This printer is much better than our previous printer, the CanonBJC1000, with a better finish and it saves much more on ink. I highly recommend it for home use. ...

Advantages: Extremely quick, cheap to run, very good image quality. Disadvantages: Slightly large footprint, some may prefer bonus software.
Prior to purchasing my own Hewlett Packard DeskJet 840C I ran a DeskJet 693C with an older computer and was thoroughly impressed with it. When it came to choosing a new printer to take to University with me I once again opted for a Hewlett Packard product and am not sorry I did. When making the choice I weighed the HP840C against two other options at similar prices: The Epson Stylus 670 and Canon?sBJC-1000.
The HP840C boasts an impressive maximum resolution of 600x1200 dots per inch and produces very crisp images. High-colour graphics are vibrantly colourful with good definition between different shades of very similar colours. Crucially yellow on a white background is picked out far better on this printer than on most others. Standard text prints extremely well in whatever colour you pick.
In image quality and resolution ...
