I've had one of these for about 3 years now and have found it to be a very reliable, easy to use printer.
The quality of text is excellant, photos are not up to todays standards but it is 3 years old, colour text and basic graphics are very good.
This has two ink tanks, black and a colour one so operating costs are not too bad. Replacement cartridges are no where near as dear as the equivilent Epson or HP printer. A good range of oem cartridges are also available which are cheaper still, black is about £2.50, colour about £4.50.
The printer is easy to install and easy to use. Press the button and the paper loads first go and prints as you would expect. The quality of photo / graphic output is no where near the standards of todays 1200 dpi printers but it perform well on most everyday tasks.
No longer made, be wary of second hand ones, the print head needs replacing after about 3 years, this is about £30. A brand new basic printer costs only £50 -60 so if you get one secondhand pay accordingly.
Advantages: quality, well built Disadvantages: speed
Have a BJC 4300 with the photo colour cartridge. It prints about 5 ppm black and about 3 ppm colour. The photo colour cartridge works incredible. prints as good as a poloroid on the glossy paper. the printer tends to be a bit hard on the ink though but not that bad. It does not leave blotches on the paper or bleed. I find it is an excellent value for my dollar and is very reliable. I never have paper jams or garbage come out of it. all options of ... ...from quality to type of paper, speeds, and anything else imaginable. i can use it for everything including envelopes and letterheads to resumes with a clear quick professional quiet print. the print tray holds up to 250 sheets and adjusts to the thickness of the paper automatically. a scanner cartridge is available for about £69.99 and the printer becomes a scanner instantly. It is also compact and takes up little space if you are cramped. ...

Advantages: Cheap to run Disadvantages: Very basic capabilities
This was my first printer, which cost me around £300 in 1995. At the time it was one of the first printers for that price range that used colour and black cartridges simultaneously (instead or swapping between them) It is relatively cheap to run, this is thanks to having the ink cartridges separate to the print head.
It was great for Printing text but was not relay designed for printing pictures, this capability came further down the range when ... ...was on the small size. This printer was really designed for people that required a mono printer but every now and then would print a colour page. If you required to print a lot of colour pages with high coverage then the cartridge wouldn’t last you long.
The printer had a small footprint so it didn’t take too much space on your desk (especially as the output tray folded in when not in use)
This printer is only available now in the second ...
