Most of us have printer to go with that desktop we have in our home office or on the desk where we Surf the Web and chat to people online. I bought the Canon BJC 5100 (BJC stands for Bubble Jet Color). It was pretty good deal for about $250 Canadian Dollars (Roughly £100 so not too bad). I think you can tell I'm not too enthusiastic about this printer. I'll tell you why.
Installation
The printer came with a easy to understand booklet and a easy follow through CD-ROM. To install, I just popped the CD in and got the printer installed in no time. No help needed. What I was also happy about was that it installed Adobe Photoshop 5.0 which is a good program to modify, enlargen etc. your pictures. The wire is long enough so that I was able to reach it to the computer (thankfully).
Ink
Ink is a problem I have with it. I feel the cartridges sometimes don't last long and I have to replace them lets say every 2-3 months. Now these cartridges are quite expensive. I pay up to $25 for one (£10) and 3 is required to print. The ink isn't that great either. I find that the ink is very splotchy and takes long to dry.
Printing
Printing is very easy and efficient. Many of my printing jobs are done in a matter of seconds (2-3 times faster than HP Printers). Although because of this speed, I find the black ink especially drags and sometimes ruins documents especially really important ones. The detail isn't all the great either. Looking at printed color pictures, you'll see dots and a lot of them. You can tell they've been on a regular printer that isn't all that great.
Size & Appearance
Although it's great printing speed, I fing the BJC 5100 is quite bulky. It's about twice the height of a normal printer and is a bit heavier. The printer itself does look nice and nothing ugly.
Overall
Overall I give the BJC 5100 3 Stars. Because of it's poor quality printing jobs and ink, I feel that the BJC 5100 needs to improve on the quality of the printing jobs it does. But it isn't too bad. If this was the only printer I could have, it wouldn't be too bad.

Canon BJC-5100 is enough fast printer (in its class). It shows very good results in vector graphs and photoexpressing printing on the paper with glossy covering (glossy paper). Plus of this models is very flexibility in configuration under one or another tasks, high velocity of printing a text and monochrome expressing, as well as print on carriers of big format, up to А3. Apart cost stands to note a possibility of print ...

I started out with a Lexmark computer and hated it. Pages were always getting jammed or double-fed. I decided I wanted a printer that would last and not be obsolete. At the time, this printer had a $30 rebate, which brought the price down to a level comparable with the cheaper models. I love this printer. I have none of the previous problems with jamming, or double-feeds. The print is very good quality, even with the lower-cost cartridges. I just ... ...color cartridge, and was surprised that it cost less than $10 to do so! I do not find this printer to be exceptionally fast, but am happy with the quality and value. My only complaint is the size of it. It does take up a good portion of my computer desk, but for the quality, I will deal with that inconvenience. I would definitely recommend this printer! ...

Advantages: Doesn't cost a lot Disadvantages: Isn't worth a lot
I cannot recommend this printer. I owned it and had to constantly baby it to keep it working. It was notorious for double or even triple-feeding pages, and jamming up. Print would come out garbled for no apparent reason and it seemed to go through ink cartridges very rapidly. I eventually got sick of this printer and sold it in a garage sale for $10, probably more than it was worth! I now have a CanonBJC-5100, which I have also reviewed and would highly recommend.
Skip this one. I know it is inexpensive, but it is just simply not worth the headache involved! ...
