Advantages: simple to use Disadvantages: No Manual
...*****THE SCANNER****
Made by Canon - as the name would suggest - it is a decent sized scanner - 18" long and 10" wide - dark blue pinstriped top cover and grey base - the words Canoscan are written on the top cover.
****INSTALLATION****
Very simple - One plug for the wall socket and one for the USB port on the computer and just the one disk to insert into your hard drive and run.
The USB interface makes it compatible with Windows 98, ME, 2000 ... ...album built into your PC.
Canon Toolbox for easy operation
****PHOTO QUALITY***
Obviously the quality of your prints will depend upon your printer and the quality of printing paper you use.
But the actual scanned item on the computer is of the highest digital quality.
****DISLIKES****
Only thing i didnt like was that there was no manual - all help instructions are built into the software - although there is a helpline number should you get ...

...sale second-hand. )
The Canon 3000F is a USB flatbed scanner that also includes a facility for scanning film. I bought it to replace a loathesome Umax scanner that was nothing but trouble. By contrast, this Canon has given me no problems in the four years I've owned it.
It includes a "cold cathode" light, which supposedly gives better colour than the LEDs used in some cheaper models. All I know is that it looks fine to me. When scanning printed ... ...use. Some people have complained about the speed, but I guess it depends what you expect- certainly, this USB 2.0-enabled scanner seems much faster than my old parallel Umax.
The 3000F also comes with some useful software, including a photocopier facility, and a feature that lets you scan multiple pages and save them as a single PDF. (Great for archiving documents). The three buttons on the front of this unit can be programmed to directly start ...

cheap as chips Review ofCanon CanoScan 3000Fby
grimworld
...time iw ould buy a canon (shot myself in the foot here). This scanner as poor quality even on estting such as 300 DPI. The scans more or less have scan lines across them and scanning in black and white images can be a real pain, it doesnt seem to pick up the lines of the images.
SPEED:
Now i like to scan a image in under a minute (i like my things fast) however the canon seems to run on snail power, this is one of the slowest scanners i have ever ... ...roughyl 3 mins to 5 mins to scan, i have no idea why even on low settings its still a long wait.
LOOKS:
This isnt really important but the scanner is really thin, one of the most thinest i have ever used, this is good for storage as it doesnt take up to much space.
SOFTWARE:
The scanner comes with its own toolbar software that makes the buttons on the front work, there is one to scan, one to scan to email and i have never used the other one.
