Tales Of A Sixty Quid Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan 3200F by Mean_Al

Advantages: Quality of photo scans, speed, slimline dimensions, low price
Disadvantages: Sleeve covering transparency scanner is flimsy, iMac styling not to everyone's taste

...scratched original had all disappeared! Canon calls this QARE technology - it will clean up dust, fingerprints and scratches with minimal intervention. Then I tried the transparency scanner. Only 35mm negatives or slides are accommodated - I had hoped that perhaps some really old negatives on 126 film could be scanned in, but this proved an unlikely prospect. I tried a standard 35mm negative in the film scanner. The driver is capable of automatically ...
...purpose of full-page A4 printing. Ultimately, not all budget kit delivers this type of performance. However, on this occasion I was amazed by the quality of the output of this Canon - and at £60, it's a steal. Buy one - I promise that you will not be disappointed. ... Read review

Everything at the touch of a button! Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan 3200F by neilix

Advantages: Easy easy
Disadvantages: set-up is quite lengthy

...transfer data quickly with the canon built in USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface. The one-touch Scan button scans what you want. Copying is fast and high quality - but I don't like doing this as it wastes valuable printer ink. What about directly emailing files and photos? Well, you can with a canon (hmmm)...I couldn't believe this excellent feature...press email...outlook opens with the file attatched and you enter the email add. and type whatever you ...
...guessed you need to set these preferences up beforehand but it all has wizards with the software that comes with the scanner. File buttons simplify document and photo scanning also. Convenient PDF file function allows easy creation of multi-page PDF documents With a fast USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface, the CanoScan 3200F can capture reflective prints, 35mm filmstrips or slides at high quality 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution. Canon CanoScan USB 3200F
Review of Canon CanoScan 3200F by patwanet

Advantages: Lightweight, Good range of software included
Disadvantages: Non-detachable lid, Some driver quirks

...then install the software. Canon are generous in that they give you not only the driver but also their own scanning application, Manual CanoScan. You also get the standard Edition of the popular and best-selling OCR/Scanning software, ScanSoft Omnipage, as well as a toolbox application that allows you to carry out basic functions from a little palatte windows in the corner of your screen. The scanner itself is lightweight and slightly larger than ...
...on the front which allow you to Scan, Print, Save and E-mail - handy for photos and business documents. There is also a lock on the base of the scanner to prevent it being used accidentally or being disturbed in transit. This lock has to be slid to the 'off' position prior to initial use, just for your reference. The only disappointing thing about the design is that even though the lid has hinges, it cannot be detaced from the scanner, which can ... Read review

Canon CanoScan 3200F
Review of Canon CanoScan 3200F by eiain

Advantages: Film unit for negatives and slides
Disadvantages: Only one negative or slide at a time

...result is much faster as Canon have designed it to work more with this port although 1.1 port is still fast enough. From negatives and slides you can produce huge bmp pictures which with the provided software you are able to professionally edit the scan and print out high quality scans and pictures. The scanner has a detect mode that will save time by auto detecting what type of document, slide or negative you have in the machine. It comes with ...
...whilst scanning negatives and slides. Scan to email (button) integration works with all platforms including AOL. Scan to file (button) for later use. Copy (button) to printer. Scan (button) to edit. 4 simple programmable buttons for ease of use. Change the way you scan, by changing the button configurations, and just enter and press. You cannot get better for the price. I only paid £59.99 for this, and all in all well worth it for the money. ... Read review
