Why I bought this one
Review of Canon CanoScan FS2710 by hoyin

Advantages: scans APS, negatives, slides
Disadvantages: pity it doesn't do batch scanning, nevermind

...Quality of build, excellent the Canon feels solid and well built. - Good black flip up dust cover that cover the scanning hole when not in use. - Software interface, easy and good to use. My only gripe is it doesn't do batch scanning, you can only scan one negative at a time. But oh well you can't have everything. I am vey pleased with my purchase. ... Read review

Once great, now so outdated no one will want it.
Review of Canon CanoScan FS2710 by findyourfoto

Advantages: Aps, ease of use
Disadvantages: Now out of date

This scanner was, in its day, a must have for any serious amateur photographer who was aching to digitise their negs and slides. And in those days it was superb at its job. You load a strip of negs into the holder and slide the clip over the frame you want, slot it in the scanner and off it goes. Mounted slides are even simpler, just load them straight in. The software it comes with, again, did the job. It provided all the necessary controls and ...
...with most scanning software there is also a set of "not really needed options" such as colour adjustment. These processes are best carried out in your image manipulation program where there are usualy better guides for the changes you are making. A major disadvantage now is the lack of any dust/scratch reduction option when you scan, meaning any damaged films wil need intense manual retouching. The scanner itself is actualy quite large and takes ... Read review

Manufacturer's product description

CanoScan FS2710 delivers outstanding resolution in a compact desktop unit. This affordable high-performance film scanner is the ideal solution for professionals and photo enthusiasts that require exceptional quality scans of 35mm or Advanced Photo System (APS) films. The high-quality scanning ability of CanoScan FS2710 comes from its combination of high-resolution 2720dpi CCD sensor, 36-bit color depth, and the 3.2D optical density range. With this combination the scanner is able to extract the smallest details and broadest range of tones from your original film images. CanoScan FS2710 makes scanning 35mm negative and positive films simple - mounted 35mm slides can be placed straight into the scanner, and 35mm film strips fit in the supplied film strip holder. Unlike many competitor film scanners, CanoScan FS2710 includes an APS film adapter, enabling APS film to be scanned as standard. CanoScan FS2710 can scan 35mm negative and positive films in only 13 seconds and APS film at just 10 seconds per frame. This speedy scanning is well matched by the scanner's high-speed PC interface for transferring the images to the computer. The matching of high speed and high quality ensures maximum productivity.
