I bought a Canon PowerShot A560 Camera and, as one was not supplied, I needed a case to protect it when I am carrying it around. I checked the Canon website and found a chart showing that the DCC-80 soft case was the one recommended for my camera. I found the DCC-80 case listed on Amazon.com for £10.99. However, on the Amazon site, it was listed as being compatible with the A710 IS, AS700, A540, A530, A520 and A510... the A560 was not listed! However, ... ...new, it has a pseduo-metal Canon PowerShot label on the front with a piece of anti-scratch film across it. Why place such an easily scratched (I presume) feature on the front of the case made out of an otherwise rugged material? However, that's not a problem, it's just an observation.

However, the listing on the Canon site (in the downloadable brochure), along with the fact that I know that the A550 is the same size as the A560, made me press ahead and buy the case. Amazon delivered it with their usual efficiency.
What I got in the package was: - the case - a wrist strap - a shoulder strap
First of all, although it was not listed on the packet, the A560 fits the case perfectly. Not at all tight, but not loose. The A560 is quite a recent model and I guess the case was manufactured before it was released.
The case itself is made of Cordura which is a highly durable fabric that is used for backpacks, luggage and boots. It is nicely soft and has enough padding to protect the camera against most reasonable knocks. The odd thing is that, as new, it has a pseduo-metal Canon PowerShot label on the front with a piece of anti-scratch film across it. Why place such an easily scratched (I presume) feature on the front of the case made out of an otherwise rugged material? However, that's not a problem, it's just an observation.
The case has a front compartment that will easily hold four AA batteries. The top flap is secured by twin zips. This is handy if you want to use the wrist strap that is attached directly to the camera. Under the flap, is a pocket that is designed to hold spare memory cards. I have three in there but it's elasticated and will easily hold more.
There are three plastic loops on the case. One on the back for the wrist strap and two on the side for the shoulder strap. On the rear, there is a velcro belt loop. This easily covers all the bases for options when carrying the thing around.
If you have one of the compatible Canon PowerShot cameras then I would recommend this case on the basis that it is a great match for that range of cameras. It's not worth saving a couple of quid on a generic case because you can be sure that this one does everything most people would expect from a case. Overall, when you consider what you spend on the camera (£100 upwards), memory cards and batteries then £10.99 is a bargain price for appropriate protection for your kit.
Advantages: Extra compartments for accesories Disadvantages: Not as padded as other cases
...her new digital camera (a Canon Powershot A640) a case wasn't supplied, so we embarked on a mission to find a case which could keep her new bundle of joy safe. Although we found cheap cases in high street shops, none of them seemed to fit the camera as well as they should. Although we tried to find the correct case for the camera, we couldnt seem to find one anywhere. She then gave up. So, seeing as it was her birthday the following week, i decided ... ...her one as an extra pressie. Within minutes of searching, i had bagged this little baby. Adbvertised at suitable for housing all cameras in the Powershot A Series (A710, A640, A630, A700, A540, A530, A520, A510), it looked perfect. Especially as it was the official case for this camera. The total cost (inc. p&p) was around £19.50, but i'm sure you can find them cheaper now online. When this camera case arrived, it seemed perfect. It was thick and ...

...DCC-300.
I have a canon brochure 2006/07 and this states the DCC-300 is for the powershot A640/A630 whereas teh DCC-80 is for powershot A710IS/A540/A530.
Haven't got either the case or camera yet but have been perusing cases as am thinking of getting the A710IS camera.
