These days, most people own digital cameras. But not everyone owns a decent case to protect it from the knocks and bumps of everyday life.
When my friend bought bought her new digital camera (a Canon Powershot A640) a case wasn't supplied, so we embarked on a mission to find a case which could keep her new bundle of joy safe. Although we found cheap cases in high street shops, none of them seemed to fit the camera as well as they should. Although we tried to find the correct case for the camera, we couldnt seem to find one anywhere. She then gave up. So, seeing as it was her birthday the following week, i decided to head home and look on the internet and get her one as an extra pressie. Within minutes of searching, i had bagged this little baby. Adbvertised at suitable for housing all cameras in the Powershot A Series (A710, A640, A630, A700, A540, A530, A520, A510), it looked perfect. Especially as it was the official case for this camera. The total cost (inc. p&p) was around £19.50, but i'm sure you can find them cheaper now online.
When this camera case arrived, it seemed perfect. It was thick and padded, which meant that there was no way the camera could possibly get damaged. There were also several compartments; netted pouches inside for loose bits and bobs, as well as a compartment on the outside with a zip fastening - perfect for memory cards and batteries! The main compartment was fairly large and also had a zip fastening. An adjustable strap was also included, which makes it perfect for travelling, and for days out. As well as this, it is pretty lightweight, so it wont way you down at special occasions!
My friend WAS thrilled with it too, until she went to put her camera in it. This is when the problems started. Although it did fit, it seemed a bit too tight. It only just closed securely, but the case lost its shape a bit becase of the poor fit. So I returned it and got the next size up - a case made for the DCC-300 range. This was identical to the other case, but was slightly bigger.
These cases are definitely hard wearing, and perfect for protecting your camera. But a word of warning, it isnt really suitable for the A640. Obviously i'm not sure about the other cameras, so its best to buy it in store (i have recently seen them in Jessops). Better still, take your camera with you and ask to try it out and see if it fits before you buy.
Furthermore, when you buy your camera, buy a package which includes a case. Then you will avoid this problem. Many online retailers offer this service!
So good luck! Hope you have more than i did!
