Canon 301 - lots of "features" still can't put on to hard drive
Advantages: You can play the mini dvd via your player or PC. Disadvantages: Too complicated to set up; Can't yet transfer to PC.

Recording onto a mini-DVD seemed like a good idea in the shop. So I bought the Canon DC301. I'm not technically minded and find the operation too complicated. The picture quality is not very good. But worst, I couldn't transfer onto my pc hard drive. I emailed Canon's helpline who said they didn't do software - I'd have to search the Internet. No luck. So I wrote again saying I was going to write a review. They wrote again with a list of software manufacturers.. I still haven't found compatible software. When Canon designed this, couldn't they have collaborated with a software company? I just want a download that recognises Canon's mini-DVD.
My old video camera gave better results - and I could edit to a degree through my video recorder.
My advice - buy from a company who are more customer-friendly.
