of the cost of original manufacturers and can be used in many makes and models of digital device. Rechargeable digital batteries are rated in "mAh" which stands for "milli-ampere hours". This rating is used to state the storage capability of a battery, e.g. a 1000mAh battery would be capable of delivering 1000mA of current consistently for one hour whereas a 2000mAh battery would deliver the same 1000mA of current for two hours. Li-on rechargeable digital batteries can deliver 40% more capacity than comparably sized NiCd batteries and weigh less than the nickel-based batteries and develop no memory effect. This new addition to the MV line-up is extremely compact and well designed. With its stylish slim body and curvaceous S-surface design, MV400i is easy and comfortable to operate, and provides an ideal fit for any hand. Featuring 540,000-pixel CCD, Canon's image stabilizer and optical 10x zoom lens, this camcorder is ideal for advanced camcorder enthusiasts and users who demand a high level of image and color resolution. The zoom range of MV400i can be digitally extended to 200x - equivalent to a zoom range of 48mm to 9600mm in 35mm film format. A high-resolution, 2.5-inch LCD monitor is mounted on the side of the camcorder, giving clear and sharp images. This flexible LCD monitor can be moved to a variety of positions for shooting and playback of recordings, and its information display gives details such as zoom position, battery level and tape remaining. The monitor turns and flips for maximum handling comfort and flexibility tucking conveniently away when bright conditions make the eyecup viewfinder a more desirable shooting method. With programmed auto exposure (AE) outstanding video results are possible even during challenging conditions. By selecting the shooting mode that best suits the scene, you can adjust internal controls to create the perfect video each time. Mode choices are Auto, Sports, Portrait, Spotlight, Sand and Snow, and Low Light. AE shift is an additional feature that gives the shooter control over how light or dark the camcorder sets the auto exposure level. The models have enhanced low light capability with a 2-lux minimum illumination. For point-and-shoot simplicity, MV400i model also includes Canon's fully automatic Easy Green mode, suitable for most indoor/outdoor situations. For those wanting to produce personalized films, MV400i camcorder features an Audio Dubbing function. With this it is possible to create or replace commentary or music to footage, thereby enhancing or explaining the images. MV400i provides users with DV-in and analog-in. With DV-In feature, users can upload edited footage or graphics from their computer, or other digital devices, to the camcorder. As the signal is digital, the images can be transferred without loss of image quality. Analog-in provides the possibility to incorporate analog video data into new digital recordings. Users can record images from a previously recorded 8mm/VHS tape, onto their new long-lasting DV tapes, thus enabling them to save, edit and preserve important and valuable video footage.
Advantages: Simple to use when recording Disadvantages: Fiddly when Fiddling
...to computer edit and add musical backing tracks. Resulting short films were then transferred back via camera to videotape.
It is during these processes that the number of wires and handbook became confusing. Eventually I wrote out my own instructions to avoid flipping between pages. Using the camera's remote also proved awkward, as it has to be pointing towards the camera front to have any effect.
I have since changed computer operating system. Still photos can be taken with the MV400i via a photo button on the top but I find it better to just record and then capture one frame with Windows XP camera wizard. This appears more straightforward than the process required by a digital stills camera purchased later. It is how I insert photos to ebay listings.
After five years and much use this product still functions well and I believe its...

Advantages: Packed full of professional features Disadvantages: Slow auto-focus
...I have used this camcorder for filming both corporate events and short films and for both it excelled. The camcorder produces excellent broadcast quality images and has full manual control over the image or can be set to full auto for less experienced users.
Canon offer a wide range of accessories for the XL1s for the professional filmaker, these include a full manual lens, XLR audio adapter, black and white CRT viewfinder and many more. The camera is easy to use and is fairly lghtweight and portable which makes it ideal for electronic news gathering.
The only issue I have with this camera is the slow autofocus speed, however unless you are doing very fast panning shots this is not a problem.
In all a very good camcorder from Canon....

Advantages: high quality images, great design, rugged yet light, good value, quick Disadvantages: auto modes can be dodgy in extreme lighting, only one control wheel, bad live view
...Canon has for a long time been renowned for its high quality cameras with superb image quality and good value for money.
The Canon EOS 450D is no exception: rugged build, high quality images from Canon's renowned CMOS sensor, and good battery life and usability all contribute to the making of an excellent entry lever DSLR camera.
In terms of picture quality, I feel Canon is unrivalled, and the 450D upholds this reputation. The 12.2MP and CMOS sensor produce excellent results in all light conditions. In bright light, the Canon has no issues sensoring quickly and almost always producing a result in auto and manual modes. The meter is swift and reliable, producing results that are frequently bettered by knowledge of the manual mode and histogram, but nevertheless excellent.
The images from low light situations are also very good...
