...I currently own 2 of these batteries, the first one came with my Canon 300D digital SLR camera I bought around a year ago. The second a bought a few months later as a spare and back up.
I bought the new battery for £15, although I have seen it advertised on many websites a couple of pounds cheaper than that.
Beware of imitations, I know of a few different 'varieties' that I have seen on an auction site on the internet, please not that it may void your warranty of you use other than 'Canon' products in your Canon camera. Saying that I also have a 'fake' canon BP 511 battery also, and realistically I would say that the Canon battery has around 10% more charge, the actual canon battery is the same price as the replacement batteries anyway, so you might as well get canon in my opinion.

...I have not found a better charger than this! This charger came with my Canon 300d Digital SLR camera, and is an excellent bit of kit. It is small and compact, weighing in at around only 100g and being about 4"x3"x1" , it is easy to pack when you go on holiday too
This charger has an approximate charge time of 2-6 hours, now I personally think it is much less than that,, I would say it charges a completely flat battery (to the point where my camera actually turns itself off from no charge) in under 90 mins!
You can charge batteries in any state, from ones needing a full charge, to those just needing a top up, it won't damage the battery as it will only charge until it's full. This canon charger can charge either the BP-511 / BP-512 lithium ion batteries.
The charger can be used anywhere in the world, just get a plug adapter and away...

...When I upgraded my photographic equipment to a complete digital set up I started from scratch. I was always a Nikon user but decided Canon was the way to go for reasons not relevant to this review. However, the point is that such a turnaround in equipment meant I had to rething my whole setup from scratch. As part of this upgrade purchased a higher performance flashgun which, unlike my previous model, required AA batteries for power. So, amidst all the research of what camera body to get for a start, let alone what lens and other accessories, I also had to invest in some good rechargeable AA batteries.
Now you may think that battery choice would be very insignificant compared to the thousand pound plus decision regarding camera equipment and, to a certain extent, you would be right. But having had experince with other...

I have bought Canon cameras before and this camera is by far the best I've owned.
I absolutely love the simplicity of these cameras. Very easy to use and very straightforward.
