Advantages Advantages Small, tough, simple and fast to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little expensive

First of all let me explain that I'm actually reviewing the Canon IXY 210 IS. It's the exact same camera, but the name and model number are for the Japanese market. Second of all let me mention that I only take photos to remember places I've been or nights out, I know nothing about photography and so will not attempt to explain anything technical. This review will compare with other cameras I have used, my experience is somewhat limited. So, a little history. I first owned a little 2MP Sony camera, it was tiny and nice to look at and the photos weren't too bad. Later I upgraded to a lovely ... more

Advantages Advantages great photos, stylish, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages small viewfinder, stitch assist program, not enough zoom

For my birthday earlier this year I asked for a new digital camera as my old one, which I’d had for 6 years was becoming quite slow, not to mention that it looked like a brick compared to some of the models on the market now! After doing some research online I settled on the Canon Ixus 100is which my parents then bought for me. I decided to put the camera through its paces properly before writing this review and over the last 8 months or so it has been abroad with me several times which gave me the chance to test out all it has to offer. One of the things that had started to annoy me about my ... more

Advantages Advantages Near perfect pictures nearly all the time. Very small and compact

Disadvantages Disadvantages 3x zoom is restrictive in some cases

I purchased this camera having, believe it or not, previously survived the best part of my 25+ year long life only ever using a camera phone to take mostly grainy pictures of indecipherable objects in the distance. When the offer of a holiday of a lifetime trip to Alaska and a conveniently timed pay rise came along this just had to change. I decided to treat myself to the Ixus 100 and I'm glad it changed as well. The Ixus 100 captured the trip perfectly from start to finish in amazing 12mp photos and HD video that will never be forgotten. For a compact camera, at first sight, the Ixus 100 ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, Stylish, Auto modes work well, Image Stabilization

Disadvantages Disadvantages HD Video capability is disappointing

The Canon Ixus 100 IS is the successor to the Ixus 85 IS model, now with 12.1 megapixels instead of the old 10. The 2.5" screen is retained, as is the optical viewfinder and the 3x zoom capability, but the Ixus 100 IS is packed with new features. Video can now be recorded in HD (720p format) and an HDMI port has been added for viewing your pics on the latest HD televisions. The 100 IS also gets a new DIGIC 4 processor, Autofocus Tracking and Auto Scene Detection! The dimensions have changed in proportion, being a whole millimetre wider than its predecessor, another millimetre taller, but 2mm ... more

Advantages Advantages Compact, easy to use, excellent macro

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Pricey

I'm not a hugely tech-y person, so I like to be able to use a product without worrying too much about working things out or fiddling with functions. I like to be able to use different functions though, as I'm a huge fan of photography and I like to be able to capture what I want and when I want to. I was given the Canon IXUS 100 IS for my birthday in 2009, and I immediately took to its sleek and small design. I also thought it was a nice weight: not too light and not too heavy. I immediately took a few photos with it and quickly located the 'display' button for viewing the photos I had taken ... more
