I've had my Ixus 330 for a year and a half, I've taken about 1800 photos and its still going strong. This camera has now been around about 2 years and has been superseded in terms of pixelation by the Ixus 400 and above but if you see this camera for under £200 new or used (ie on Amazon or Ebay) then you've probably still got a bargain.
Durability
Very good I have dropped it a couple of times on soft and hard surfaces and it still works fine. The only thing that I have noticed though is some of the black transfers detailing the specifications of the camera are wearing off.
Reliability
Excellent I have not had one single problem with the camera in the year and a half since I bought it. I have taken about 1800 photos and taken the camera to hot and cold climates with no problems at all.
Size
Is small but not as small as I thought it was going to be. Next time I buy a camera off t'internet I'm going to look up the dimensions and get a ruler and draw them on a bit of paper to help me make my decision. I might even get some card and make a mock up of the camera (am I sad?).
Weight
Average I suppose but then it is made of stainless steel and not plastic. I have however put the camera in my pocket when wearing shorts before now and felt them pulling down on that side but maybe I'm just being picky and should do my shorts up tighter.
Instruction Manual
It is good, as its quite pictorial too but mine came in French, not Canons fault but Pixmania's (I would personally advise anyone not to use this online shop). However wherever you purchase your Ixus from you can be safe in the knowledge that an electronic version is available in many languages from the Canon website, which is very handy indeed.
Photo Quality
This is excellent considering its a 2 megapixel camera and you can take some great photos using the autofocus features, combined with the optical/digital zoom of 7.5x. There are also some additional picture effects such as sepia or black and white which are nice to have.
LCD Screen
This is of good quality and reliable plus it gives an accurate representation of your photos (what more could you want).
Camera modes
The Digital IXUS 330, although primarily a point and shoot compact, has a number of useful modes all accessed though the easy to use wheel on top of the camera. These are:
Playback: Used to check photos you've taken. Auto: Most of the settings are automatically set by the camera. Manual: The exposure compensation, white balance and other settings can be manually set. Stitch Assist: Images are shot in overlapping series to create a panoramic image. Movie: Shoots movie clips with sound.
On the left side of the camera are connections for the USB connection to your computer and audio/video out to connect and view images on your TV. All the necessary cables are provided and software if you need it is again available from Canon's website. Using your camera with the PC and TV are extremely easy to use
Summary
Although well established this is a very good quality camera and would make an excellent second-hand buy. The only camera I would replace my Ixus with would be another Ixus.
