Canon Digital IXUS 55

Advantages: Size, easy to use, cheap for what it has
Disadvantages: too many options for the novice!!

I was originally looking for a cheap digital camcorder, but after an internet search I came to realise that for the amount of money I wanted to spend (no more than £150) I couldn't afford one that would a) have a battery life more than 10 minutes, or one that could take decent videos indoors. So I changed tactics and went for a digital camera which could take videos (on the suggestion of my other half, as her old digital camera is falling apart. ...
...after I bought it, on her suggestion, she then said "I have a digital camera, why didn't you but a camcorder?"?!?!). One thing I should confess is that I bought it whilst on holiday in the states, so mine's a "powershot sd450", although it's the same camera. Confusing huh? This camera is perfect for going everywhere with you - it's slimline (0.7 inches thick) and lightweight (just over 150g), and it switches on straightaway when you press the 'on' button. As you can see, it's a great-looking camera, and has a fantastic digital zoom that gives extremely sharp, clear photos. It's extremely easy to use too - onscreen menu explains everything clearly, and it's full of all kinds of useful settings that I haven't even got around to experimenting with yet! Unlike my last bulky camera, this one fits in every bag I own, no matter how small, so I don't have to rely on someone else having a camera with them anymore and i can literally take it everywhere with me. I love this camera!

Advantages: Super Small, Slim, packed with useful features and fantastic photo quality.
Disadvantages: None that I can comment on

...This has been one of the best small compact digital cameras I have owned to date. I had Canon Ixus 55 previously which I unfortunately damaged (I'm slightly on the clumsy side - so get through camera's quite easily). The Canon Ixus 70 is a brilliant replacement, so small - but packed full of the same excellent Canon features that the 55 had. The Ixus was always seen as a fantastic camera even from the days of APS - I get so many good remarks from people. I love the Black/Silver retro look and think it looks classy in comparison to the silver version I've seen - but that's just personal taste. The camera switches on really fast and takes photos quickly and easily - I've been so happy with the output - quality photos, either from my canon printer or professional services.
