Canon Digital IXUS 60

Although I use this camera for my artwork at school, I would porbably not reccomend it for any particularly porfessional photography. It has 6 mexapixels which I found perfectly sufficient for everyday use. The film quality was also quite good, but once again not for any profesional use. Taking films also took up quite a lot of the memory, and this is definitely not the right type of camera to use if you plan on using it to take long films (more than about ten minutes). I bought my Ixus 60 in February with Christmas money from family as a small take anywhere camera to make sure I didn't miss any amusing photo opportunities of my daughter. In general, I would say we are more of an SLR family. I learnt to take pictures on a battered old Praktica LTL3 and my husband has built up an extensive collection of SLRs over many years. So when the first digital SLRs which were marketed at amateur photographers came out, we snapped one up. I recently purchased the Canon IXUS 60. It is a six megapixel digital camera with a three times optical zoom lens. The camera is a ultra compact digital camera which fits in the pocket very well. The build quality of this camera is impressive and it is also one of the more expensive cameras compared to others in its category . There are one or two interesting features, but the camera remains very easy to use. This is why it appealed to me, it is a straight forward point and click with plenty of features. This camera is amazingly good for a 6 megapixel camera. I even had water soak through the camera and it has still survived! The camera has 3 modes - camera, video and viewfinder. The camera has a variety of functions. It allows you to change the exposure; it can change the setting you are in, for example, day light, cloudy, tungsten, fluorescent, etc.; it allows you to change the picture mode to black/white, sepia, etc. but the only downside is that it doesn't have inversion which is a real let down for me; it allows you to put a box in the camera view so you can get a clear shot of what you ... more
