This has been one of the best small compact digital cameras I have owned to date. I had Canon Ixus 55 previously which I unfortunately damaged (I'm slightly on the clumsy side - so get through camera's quite easily). The Canon Ixus 70 is a brilliant replacement, so small - but packed full of the same excellent Canon features that the 55 had. The Ixus was always seen as a fantastic camera even from the days of APS - I get so many good remarks from people.
I love the Black/Silver retro look and think it looks classy in comparison to the silver version I've seen - but that's just personal taste. The camera switches on really fast and takes photos quickly and easily - I've been so happy with the output - quality photos, either from my canon printer or professional services. If you're like me, then I use my camera for everything, weddings, walking, holidays - it goes everywhere and the beauty of this camera is that it's so small it's not a chore to use. This weekend (after insuring it) I actually let a 6 year old use it at my sisters wedding - the results were brilliant. So if a 6 year old can use it - then the camera can be used as a simple point and shoot on automatic.
On a more serious note, it does struggle a little with red-eye (but so many compacts do). I don't see this as too much of a problem though.
One of the smallest cameras I have found that still gives you the optical viewfinder - which is becoming a rare feature these days. This is extremely useful in bright light. The screen is crystal clear and pin sharp. The manual features and settings are not complicated and fun to play with.
Overall - I cannot recommend this camera enough and would advise anyone who wishes to purchase a small, sturdy and fun compact camera with bags of potential to purchase this one. They won't be disappointed!
