Advantages: Picture quality and general build quality Disadvantages: slightly too small.
Opening the box and there isn't much in there: -
2 CDs containg software and drivers and some Arcsoft software that I didn't install when I had my IXUS V and probably won't install now.
A wrist strap for you to tie on yourself.
An AV cable.
A White mini-USB cable.
An 1100 mAh 3.7v battery.
A battery charger.
A quick manual and a more detailed but not brilliant second manual.
The camera.
16MB SD card! First I had the painful wait while I ... ...somewhere that the first charge of the battery took the longest and gave the least camera life so I wanted to charge up.
Battery took a good couple of hours during which time I gazed longingly at its shininess! The camera seems very sturdy, not the full steel case of the IXUS V as most of the back, particularly the LCD surround is a glossy black plastic but pretty solid never the less. The battery compartment covers the memory slot as well so fewer ...

This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most electronic products, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It incorporates most of the latest features and technology that is currently available on the market. Unfortunately its manufacture contributes significantly to global warming.
After using this product for a few months I have ... ...only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.

Advantages: Build, image quality Disadvantages: Buttons can be fiddly to operate
...where I have always found Canon to excel. Canon are, I believe, the only digital camera maker who actually make there own sensors which gives them some advantage of being able to design the camera around sensor not the other way round giving, in my humble opinion, a better picture.
The lens is an improvement over older models giving a 4X zoom and image stabalisation. That equates to a 35-140mm zoom in 35mm terms. It does have a flash on it which ... ...I really can't recommend Canon cameras enough. This little IXUS800 is fantastic and offers good usability and image quality. Don't worry about them being fragile, they aren't, you only have to read what I've done with my old one to know they can withstand a lot of abuse. Software wise the baby Canon comes with two discs containing image editing and viewing software as well as all drivers necessary. It also has the normal accessories like charger, ...

Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: No battery icon, quite expensive.
...basic of subjects becomes interesting. Canon have also included lots of presets for when the camera is used on the beach for example, meaning that the dark colour which people become when against the white sand is compensated for. Similarly there are presets for snow, foliage, indoor, fireworks, kids & pets, Night mode, portrait and even underwater for when the camera is combined with the waterproof case available for it (WP-DC5 at approx. £120). ... ...creating panoramic images, and the Macro setting which is very good, used for taking close up detailed photographs. Despite all of these features the camera is incredibly easy to use for any level of photographer, with the selection wheel allowing the user to choose between the cameras Auto setting (where settings are instantly tweaked to create the perfect photo), manual setting (where the user has more control) or the SCN (special scene) setting ...

Advantages: Great quality pictures, Impressive zoom Disadvantages: Cost, screen can crack easily
I bought this camera to replace my old ixus750 that unfortunately broke when I dropped it. I was very pleased with it when it came although if you are planning on buying this camera, make sure you buy an extra sd memory card with it because the one that comes with it is only 16mb! That can only hold 4 pictures on the highest quality setting, so its pretty useless. I have a 512mb card and find that thats generally fine but have run out of space a ... ...different shooting modes. There is an automatic mode which does all the settings for you, there's a manual mode, and there's a scenic mode. If ur looking for extensive manual controls then I would suggest this camera is not for you. It does however have the basic manual controls like exposure adjustment and ISO adjustment. It has a very useful panormaic feature which allows u to take several pictures next to each other and fit them together using ...

Manufacturer's product description
The delightfully compact Digital IXUS 800 IS combines IXUS style with advanced photographic features. Experience sharper flash-free shooting with ISO 800 and a 4x optical Image Stabilizer zoom lens. A 6.0 Megapixel CCD sensor captures every scene with enough fine detail for large photo quality prints. A compact 4x optical zoom lens features Canon's optical Image Stabilizer (IS) technology to counteract camera shake - particularly noticeable at slower shutter speeds, full zoom and in low light conditions. ISO 800 and High ISO Auto settings combine with optical IS to allow flash-free shooting indoors or in low light conditions. They also enable shooting at higher shutter speeds, further reducing image blur from camera shake and subject movement. An elegant finish in metallic silver and ebony black completes an exceptionally compact body. Canon's DIGIC II processor ensures fast, responsive camera performance and superb image processing. iSAPS technology analyzes each scene to optimize key camera settings even before a shot is taken. The 2.5" LCD screen features a wide viewing angle for easy group viewing with friends. Quick-bright gives instant screen brightness in outdoor conditions. Night Display mode improves visibility after dark for easy night shooting. Choose from a range of 16 shooting modes to get that perfect shot. Special Scene modes such as Beach and Underwater help with tricky lighting conditions. My Colors allows special in-camera color effects to be applied both before and after shooting. Shoot stills in Widescreen 16: 9 mode for playback on widescreen TV or printing on wide size paper with a SELPHY CP printer. Shoot extra long 30fps VGA movies with full audio, or record QVGA movies at 60fps and analyze in sharp slow motion. Connect to any PictBridge or Canon Direct Print compatible photo printer and push the Print/Share button for instant photolab quality prints.
